    Hey,

I was wondering: How legal/illegal is it to make a torrent website ? and what would be a good host to host one ?

Technically yes if you only link to legit stuff, whether it is legal if you link to pirated stuff is still sort of unknown - the pirate bay case.

On one side, no it isn't they don't screen what the users put up how can they be responsible.

On the other hand, they are aiding pirates in spreading pirated content, even if they are unaware of it is still a crime.

Rather than come up with a full blown torrent site find a niche, porn for example or something like that and get lots of high quality stuff to keep it running.

Try to stay away from software - this tends to be difficult because you need cracks etc..

How many popular sites stay legal is they follow orders from the people who ask stuff to be taken off. They could have 99% illegal stuff, but as long as it gets removed when asked, little is usually done. Flamboyant sites like TPB who openly flame their haters, no matter how legal they are, will still get attacked for how they deal with authority.

hmm so I should make a torrent removal request form ?
Or I could only allow legal torrents.

    Lemme think this over.
another question, how much cpu/band(per sec) does the tracker need ?

No they don't, not since demonoid and other bittorrent sites were shut down on this host.

I have spoke to underhost.us (good offshore and lenient)

and 1and1.com who said I could with a dedicated but the servers are in US so its risky

Are you serious? Of course, it is illegal. Somebody/company created it and want paid for their effort.

I could help you set one up for a few bucks.
You need to get a torrent site script from somewhere(There are many just google)
After that you need to install it, customize it, edit the theme etc. and you have your site up and running.
