I've been doing a lot of reading on the forum and the idea of owning a Private Blog network is starting to sound enticing to me.

I think based on the threads here I have a good idea of how to set them up (i.e., separate hosting, etc, etc).

I have a couple more questions if someone more experienced could please answer for me if possible:

    1. How many sites should i aim for? For example, if i used 100 purchased links pointing to a money site in the past and i was able to get to page 1.. how many private sites would i need in a private blog network to get a similar result?

    2. If I was to hypothetically purchase 15 or so domains from auctions that have age but little to no PR, is this still valuable or as valuable in comparison to buying links from networks? If not, what would you suggest. Purchasing high PR domains starts to get expensive ? but what about PR 1 or PR 2 domains? Is that a decent start?

    3. When you create your own blog network, do you tailor them specifically to your niche? or keep them a little more generic so they can be applied to multiple niches you may be running?

Some further info on private blog networks would be much appreciated.

It's not a great idea to setup a PBN just to get backlinks for one or 2 of your money sites. The effort and maintenance for PBNs would be quite high and also takes a lot of time build a network of high authority sites with good standings.

You're better off buying links from other networks which would cost you lot less than the cost involved purchasing high authority domains, setting the hosts etc.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have the skills and resources to do it 'technically' - my question is how many blog sites would you need to make it a worthwhile venture.

The intention would be to power 15 or 30 money sites, not just 1 or 2.

I don't know whether it would cost less to buy links to be honest. If you do the math it may actually work out cheaper to build your own network than buy links you have no control over. ... My problem is that I just don't know how many would is considered a good number that would have a positive effect on money sites.

If I bought 100 links from a blog network for example and i was able to get to page 1 by renting links, my question is how many sites should i have to get a similar result?

save yourself the headache and cost and find a solid service.

services get burned all the time an dso do networks.

do you want to invest thousands of dollars to have your network burned bc you did something wrong? or use a service that is maybe a hundred bucks a month?

Also take into account the amount of time in setting it up! Time is worth a lot more than a few saved bucks.

On your question about how many sites, it depends on so many things like relevance, authority etc. Starting from scratch you'll need a lot more than buying established sites, but the latter means a much higher initial outlay.

If you go down this route I'd aim for at least 50 with a mix of age, niche etc. What some people do is use WMPU to use the same domain to power money sites in different niches, with multiple blogs on each one for different niches.

A PBR will have a much lesser chance of being "discovered" than a public one
