    Hi there guys!

I've been following BHW for a few years now and you guys have been helping me a lot stablishing my SEO and online marketing projects. I've always stayed on the white hat lane, developing campaigns for customers mostly in English.

When I decided to go into the Portuguese Market I tried to find a competitive KW to see if my strategies were also working on this language. I went for "make money online" in portuguese and managed to be the 1st on G SERPs in less than 2 months.

Now I have a weird plan I wanted to share with you and hear your thoughts.

I found a short list of broad, generic KWs with 4M, 6M monthly searches and I've been studying the websites ranking on them. Mostly they are old domains - 7 to 10 years - with lots of links to their domains only - not necessarily to the ranking url - with little link building skills (KWs not showing on links at all). The interesting part is when I go at the second page and see webstes with very few links - some with lots of PBN footprints only.

So the scenario seems hectic but doable.

But I believe I might have to go a little bit grey hat on this one. I have been working strictly with white hat techniques so far, but Im planning to start using GSA SER since it seems to be a complete tool - maybe with a little support from scrapebox. Anyway, my questions are:

Anyone has any tip here to outrank old domains with mediocre content?
Any suggestion about how to go after broad KWs such as, for instance, "cars"?
    Do I sound crazy?

    Thanks for sharing your ideas!

    Have a good one

You could start with getting an aged domain for your site with a solid backlink profile. Rather than starting new, this domain will most likely still be indexed in Google and still have some links pointing to it. This won't get you to number 1 but will definitely make it easier than starting with a brand new domain.

    Thanks mate!

Would you rather pick an old domain with good backlink profile or a new EMD?

If you have capital to do some quality SEO, then go for EMD. However, I have been hearing that EMDs are becoming less and less important to Google for ranking. With a new domain you would essentially starting from scratch. So that means you might be stuck in Google's sandbox for a while, you would have to get the site indexed, and build an entirely new backlink profile. The pro of that is of course, you have full control of the type of backlinks that you build.

I hear that about EMDs losing power as well, but In practice I see some of them having good advantage - specially EMD with less then 3kw on it. Also I see some variation as well - some of them lose power, some of them don't, regarding of niche, type of KW, etc...

For my experience in portuguese market, I see EMDs ranking in niches such as "make money online" with several people trying to outrank it... I have one website that just recently went to 1.8 position and its been over 2 years that I dont even touch it... its EMD, not even a TopLevel extension..

It's not gonna be easy, but keep at it.

I thought it was a serious plan until I read GSA SER was going to be his main weapon. I highly doubt you can rank a 6M keyword on spam blasting tools alone. I'd rethink this plan.

    Thanks for sharing, THOPHAYT!
I dont intend to rank it by only blasting spam around the web, mate. The main effort will be white hat seo, as it's been working for me for quite a while. But, due to the link parameters of some of my opponents, I think I might need some black hat to back me up.
Could you suggest any useful tool?

    Cheers

I'd suggest not using any automated tool, not on T1 at the very least. Manually made links on T1, and you're probably going to have to build some PBN sites as well.
