I think that is really hard to estimate in general. Before each submission that worth to learn and check every web site you are going to submit to.
In this case you will be aware of all places and possible effect. But that will make process a bit more complicated though...

Press releases are helpful 2 in 1 ranking solutions. They help you rank with the appearance and also reach some people.

People have been using press releases for online reputation management since forever. The trick is to get the name of your client and associate it with a fictional story.

I once had an ORM project where we took the client's name and associate it with a fictitious DJ from Japan.

Guess what.

After enough citation marketing as well as press release syndication, all you can see in the first two pages of results on Google for my client's name was that fictional DJ.

It was a fun project because I got to let my imagination run wild. I would write press releases about the DJ getting into all sorts of funny legal hijinks in different parts of the world.

In fact, even a few bloggers started rewriting some of the press releases because they were that funny and interesting.

Keep in mind that this press release technique will only work if your PR is newsworthy. This can work to suppress negative press regarding your client or this can also work to boost a brand.

The key is to make the press release newsworthy.

Ask yourself: Why would a blogger rewrite this stuff on his o her blog?

Supply the right answer and you're in business.

Sounds like good strategy. But how long those articles stay in that first pages? will they go down after few months or so?

The $5 press release services and nothing more

Anything else to me is a waste of money in comparison to investing elsewhere

Press release services that maintain a favourable public image are essentially a thing of the past. It can help one have a dedent reputation down the drain. If words like scam and rip off are a part of your online presence, you are in a much deeper waters than you have realized. The only hope out of these waters are for your business to use ORM available out there.

To follow Blackbean's post. Loved their strategy!

In 2005, during the RIAA fight against Napster, I piggy backed off of the trending story to promote a Clickbank product. I simply stated that the software on Clickbank ( it was a move watching software) was legal, technically it was. Ha!

I submitted it to PRWeb and spent the next 2 days refreshing my Clickbank account. I made over $3500 off of $40 software after refunds!

I also piggybacked off of stories to promote a book I wrote back then and made plenty of sales.

Fun times.

Why let the mainstream have all the fun?

If you are imaginative enough, you can roll it into throwing events and get sponsors easily for the events. I worked in media for years and you would be surprised how much big-name companies pay just to have their stupid logo on a red carpet backdrop at an event of 200-300 people!

Heck, Salem Cigarettes PR firm used to pay me $950 for 2 hours just to take photos at a club of the crowd and the Salem cig girls who passed out cigarettes in front of an ice sculpture. I did it several times. I didn't even have to edit the photos! What a waste of money.

ORM won't work against a high powered or even semi-high powered website for long term

You'll find yourself coming back to fix that in time

That's my opinion. And it depends on the level of syndication the story got and how much social media is picking up on it

To me, press releases are usually temporary in any niche of value
