Do prepaid SIM cards work in contractually activated cell phones?

It would depend on the provider I would imagine, as some do not utilize SIM cards. I don't know as far as phones already in service, but I know I've put the SIM of a prepaid phone into one that wasn't one (had it from a little while back and it was deactivated) and it worked.

I believe they do unless the phone/service you have a contract with doesn't use a sim card.

They work with the same network SIM's if phone is locked, they work with any SIM if phone is unlocked. Atleast in Europe.

I use cingular/ATT and swap sims over razor and throw away phones you get with the 20$ prepaid package. I have a phone for the club and a phone to get scratched up with all the other change in my pocket for daily use. Only thing is the sim only holds so many numbers...

Well, I guess I should have added a little more information. It will be with a phone that uses a SIM card normally. One is Tmobile - locked. The other is Cingular - unlocked for Tmobile.
