The web site that PPL creates for you is a generic page. Each page created is identical. My concern is that all the major SE's will consider these pages as duplicate content and prevent any sort of SEO techniques from working. Any thoughts?

When you sign up as an independent associate (salesman) at PrePaid, they create a website for you. This website allows potential prospects to visit your page to sign up. You then get credit for the sign up and make commission off the sale.

Here is the question/problem. I have minimal SEO experience and from what I understand, duplicate content is obviously looked down upon. Being that Pre-Paid created this page and I can't edit it, would it be possible to somehow sway the SE's in a direction that demonstrates that my page is important regardless of the duplicate content?

If every page they create have the exact same semantic information (words) on it, you shouldn't work with them, because they obviously have no clue what they're doing.

I could create my own page I suppose, but I think it is against their terms. Assuming I can, I definitely will. I am just trying to figure out what to do in a worst-case-scenario.

I also don't want to waste my time optimizing a site that will get me nowhere in the rankings.

First read their TOS or call them and ask them. Then create your own site on your own domain. I doubt they'll get mad if you made your own site. Just have it re-direct to their sign up form or even to their sales page (whichever you prefer).

vze2yqtm is exactly right. Your company in question simply has a self replicating website that everyone gets when they sign up. Usually in the MLM world there is a basic and an enhanced site that you pay for so you can register new "distributors."

It looks as if all of if not most of the "distributors" have the same site. However if you simply do as qtm said and create your own domain and landing page that redirects to the self replicated website you shouldn't have any problems.

Since it is a "legal" company, I'm suggesting just so you don't piss them off, that you get your new domain and landing page approved by them so they don't put your commissions on hold while they investigate your redirect page for TOS violations. I guarantee they have certain regulatory compliance issues that they have to abide by. (most mlm's do)

Take these steps and you'll get to optimize your own landing page while then redirecting them to the replicated site for them to register on.

One of the best selling points was their Identity guard, Probably the best way to market them would be an informational product [ebook] from a sign up page. give info and your link in the pdf.

Because of the legal issues of what they are doing they probably wont let you change the wording. So a cloaked domain is probably your best bet.

You can still do links to your replicated page, I got affiliate links to a membership site to rank in Yahoo that way, No luck in Google though. Anyway, some traffic is better than none.

Unfortuantely, all those site provide the replicated page hoping you go buy all your traffic, They probably dont want you to beat them in the serps.

    Okay here's my 50 cents.

I used to do MLM and Pre-Paid Legal, got up to the ranks of Director, made some nice commissions and residuals but afterwards my team started quitting and going back to their day jobs. Every single one of them lost motivation and it got harder trying to build more leaders. Plus I also fell in love with internet and affiliate marketing so I too had to quit :D
If you are really concerned about duplicate content, my advice is learn internet marketing as much as you can. Learn all the factors - SEO, Article marketing, Web 2.0, blogging, and list building.

Once you get the basic foundation down, you can either build your own landing page or squeeze page to build a prospect list following this guys strategy:

    hxxp://w3.inter*netmlmexper*t.c0m/

I really learnt a lot from him and his team.

Take that knowledge and build yourself your own website like these guys have suggested or you can do what I did and sign up for this service, also provided for you by your company.

    hxxp://bu*ildlastin*gsuccess.c0m

It's a great system because they give you a website you can customize, autoresponder to build your leads with a series of follow-up emails, tracking system etc...go there and read more about it and sign up.

Last advice is for you to just network. I don't mean simply attending all your company trainings, events and seminars, but meet other MLMers, chat with them on IMs, go on MySpace and find out what they're up to. The industry is changing and people are trying different systems to build their downline...get involved, read articles on ezinearticles.com.

If you want I have some Pre Paid Legal articles I believe I still have some on my harddrive I can offer them to you..just send me a PM.

    All the best.
