Just a quick warning. In the last 24 hours I've sold stupid numbers of certain software through my affiliate links.
    Should be happy?

Nah -because it's too good to be true - and it's happened before.
One of the titles is a forex program that sells for $1300 (and I get 40% one off) or $90 per month (and I get 40% per month) I sell normally 2 or 3 a week of the one off and a couple less of the monthly's.
This morning I sold 11 in the space of 3 hours. Yeah over $7000 in 180 minutes minutes in coms. Sounds too good to be true BECAUSE IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

I track people leaving my landing page to go to the sales providers page via Bit'ly's handy click tracker. Those eleven sales of the forex software sales were gleaned from 1 click! So the lazy fradulent bastard couldn't even be bothered to hide his/her tracks. Probably bookmarked the coupon/invoice page - changed proxy and just refreshed

I predict a sequence of events.

    • The forex exchange forum (where I'm a regular poster) will tomorrow have posts saying "Wanna buy [software name] only $500 fully legit" [$800 less than full price - a real bargain for this software]
    • Their will be some conversation
    • Money will change hands (normally to a hastily set up paypal account)
    • The guys who PM will think their is only one copy being sold, in fact 10 or 11 will be sold to different punters in the space of 5 or 6 hours [at that price it will be gobbled up]
    • Withdraw request will be made on Paypal by vendor
    • A couple of days will pass (no hassle - software works - paypal withdrawl is completed)

    Then some of the following will happen;

1 - Vendor (who has credit card details) cancels the purchase. OR it's a stolen CC and the fraudulent transactions are discovered
2 - Next all the transactions will be reversed. The licenses that are required to make the software run will be revoked
3 - I will get 11 "Refunds" on my affiliate account
4 - Some of the guys who bought the software second hand will think it is mine or the developers fault they have been ripped off. [They will be told how wrong they are - and how they have feck all chance of seeing their money again]

While the forex is a bigger concern for me. The 5 SEO application purchases will also probably have been bought with fraudulent CC's and anyone who buys them second hand WILL LOSE THEIR MONEY.

I know this because I watch my metrics. It's happened before (about every 3 months) it's a pattern I know only too well. I know how many a day is realistic, how many is suspicious, and how many is just plain "WRONG" (off the curve).

Now, these credit cards are used to make purchases of lots of high value licensed (check with server on startup) licensed software, and SEO software is often a target as well (they use the cards to make loads of sales on each card in different niches. These guys are SERIOUS FRAUDSTERS - committing the sort of scam that overall will net them a five figure sum for a days work. It also carries a 15 year jail sentance in most fo the western world (and worse in other parts of the world) SEO software that has a license is often a target.

YOU ARE COMPLETEL Y SAFE IF YOU BUY FROM THE VENDOR
YOU ARE LIKELY TO GET SHAFTED IF YOU BUY 2ND HAND

Not looking forward to the end of this week. I've contacted the software dev for the product in question asked them totrace the CC numbers. I've put a hold on being paid commission on this monthly cycle for the 11 licenses in question (last thing I want is a massive refund deficit in next months sales), I've contacted the affiliate scheme (who are normally EXCELLENT at following thorugh on these things) and also posted on a couple of the other forums i frequent (foreign travel, forex trading and graphic design niches)

Least I could do is warn you folks at BHW. As sergeant Phil Esterhaus from Hill Street Blues used to say "Hey, let's be careful out there"

Good work Scritty, looks like they messed with the wrong guy!
Definitely best to get the software dev to cancel and deactivate the licenses pre-emptively. Won't be able to sell something that doesn't work!
Keep us posted on how it all turns out

Yesh - I thought I'd do the decent thing.

Black Hat is one thing, but this is just plain stealing off people pure and simple. Had a message from the affiliate provider thanking me and saying that yes - 10 of them are now being investigated (one they assure me is genuine) - which means I got 2 sales of that item yesterday - so that's still over $1000 in coms from that one site in one day - I'm happy, hope no-one gets stuffed by these fraudelently purchased copies though.

It's hard to turn down a bargain when you really need the tools to make cash, but that's what makes this so bad. In forex forums (like here) so many people are spending redundancy money or savings to try and get a start in business. They have families to support. And these feckers just steal their money. If I had a hammer .....

Well spotted! it's a good thing that you are on top of your metrics.

Is there a way you could trace this person back? did you get his/her ip address? I bet it's being done from an internet cafe. Anyway, good luck with that mate and keep us posted.

Couldn't they sell the software in advance of the purchase?

    That was a good show.
