    Hi,

I have been offered a PR8 sitewide backlink in the sidebar of the website, not been told what niche etc it is in. But im interested to know if this link would hold that much power for its price tag, im currently #11 for main term and do alot of links to it daily, now im intrigued if this link is the difference between page 2 and 1 and if it would bump me up to top 5 ?

    Thanks

    Mas

    No-one could honestly answer that....

Will a PR8 link help? Most likely and don't see why not. But it depends on your current site and the competition.

Why go for a sitewide? If the site has lots of pages which are PR8, then I would choose the most relevant one or the homepage personally.

It's unlikely that it will boost you into the top 5. I'd stay away from a sitewide link though.

Sitewide link looks spammy to me. For if I go and do a site review and see all these links coming from every page out of another site, I immediately think "sidebar" or "footer" purchased link. That to me is a red flag.

Also, does the link make sense to be placed on that page? For example, if it exists on http://www.mypets.com/catfood.html and the link is pointing to leather jackets page, I'm gonna consider it 9 times out of 10 to be a purchased link.

    Make sense?

Site-wide links are fine and safe to use IF they are relevant to your niche and a consumer can't tell the difference between paid/natural link. Thinking site-wide links are bad is more of a myth than truth. The key question to ask is "is this link relevant"?
