So a site, well trusted with PR5 is willing to post an article I wrote. However when I look up the article www.domain.com/article/my-article-here and search it in PR checker it comes up as PR 0. The link is do-follow with an anchor to my site. Is this link not good or worthwhile? The article is top notch and wondering if I wasted my time or if I shouldn't bother with this method.

    It's a new page on a PR5 site.
    Going to be 0.
    Still good though.

On any website a new page or post will be pr 0.

The link is worth it and can be very powerful if its on an authority site that is related to your niche.

Depends on the site, if it has articles on variety of topics. Then you most likely wasted your time. If its concentrated on specific niche related to yours, then you got a very good link.

All of the above are right, it is a new page (that is why PR=0) and if the site is a quality one in your niche it is a good move.

Can't you ask them to feather you in the home page or something for a a short time?

Get some bookmarks pointing to the page it'll soon gain PR.It'll probably gain PR naturally in time being on a PR5 site so it will only get stronger.
Use scrapebox to find some high PR highly relevant pages, manually post a great reply using keyword as name, link to the page.
Do not spam it a little work and you'll have a gold nugget.20-30 high pr comments and you're good.

Relevancy is high + authority is high = good link
Relevancy is low + authority is high = your normal comment/profile/directory link

The relevancy is difficult because it is such a super niche that like 10-20 sites out there are actually in my niche. A handful of other sites have written articles on my niche but not devoted to it. So the relevancy factor becomes a difficult one because then the site becomes a bit broad. I would say it is more relevant than other sites yet not the niche itself.

Still a good link, Just back link to the guest article, ask the web site owners for a push from their homepage for 2-3 days.

Social mark it, Have high PR forum profiles, on the niche if possible and spread it via forums.

If you drive traffic to the site that has the guest post, then to your site from within the guest post I find conversion are a bit higher, it basically weeds out the people who was just curious from the people who want to know more.

Also while driving traffic to the guest post, you can gain PR on the page (Home page site of PR5), this inner page will gain some of the PR from the Homepage as well. You end up with a PR3 or so deep link from a semi authority site. These links are good.

I been finding the key of successful guest posting is promoting the guest post, even a few days before the post.

This is the internet we can be anyone or anything we want. People believe in what they want to, make it sound like your the top dog, and people will flock.

Just think out side of the box and you'll be able to see how things effect each other when it comes to each search engine and what they like, there are thousands of thousands of way to gain number 1 on google, and they all work.

    Good luck.

    Ya the link is great...

Remember that the toolbar doesn't show up to date PageRank.

Therefore, the PageRank of the article could likely be a PR3-4. It just hasn't reflected it yet. The toolbar isn't in real time. Therefore on the next update, the PR to the article will show up.

All in all though, a good link.
