    I bought a PR3 domain from godaddy auctions with the exact niche I was focusing on the day before the reset. The reset took all its PR but its majestic rating is 14cf/22tf and 38/32/3.25 mozrank.

    Is it pointless to use this domain for my money site or is there a way to revive the old links that google seems to have removed

    If there are still links poiting to that domain, just put content and PR will come back on the next update.

    I don't think PR has any ranking effect, it just looks "cool" , my PR0 sites actually get more google traffic then the sites with PR3-4

    i think majestic TF is a more accurate metric for domain quality.

    That is exactly what I was wondering, thank you. Yes it still has 800+ links a lot of them good and a 12 year old domain

    no content on the site = no pr after update.

    my DA58, PA65 domain was PR2 but is now PR0 just because I haven't got round to put it on my hosting and put content up.

    Google just revoke PR of inactive domains, their link juice will retain. Setup a website on that domain and on next PR update you will see the PR back to normal. The best use for these domain is for tier 1.

    Don't worry about PR, just continue your strategy. People should focus on PA/DA of domain rather than PR. These metrics have almost the same mechanism: more external links = higher score. However PA/DA are updated frequently while PR is updated publicly once a year.

    I agree with 1+1=2 that PA/DA or CF/TF is more accurate representation of external link juice except some cases. the main difference I observe as compared to PR is PR puts more emphasis on Gov, Edu links and also gives a good amount of weight on internal links and no of pages the site has and also if the site is updated or is just static over time period. PR of a domain is relevant but not super relevant for rankings, their are various other factors involved

    Not true I have several PR 4 and 5 sites I just bought a month ago, I have the sites live with templates installed and navigation mapped out and these sites still retained their PR.

    "live with templates installed and navigation mapped out" so there is content on the site. doesn't have to be lots of article, just any html would be classed as content, and the templates would probably have placeholder content.

    That is what I used to think but I am not so sure now. Case in point....just before the update I purchased a bunch of PR3 and higher domains. I have not added any content. After the update some of the domains went to PR 0 as expected but some stayed the same and even one of the domains went from a PR3 to PR4. Again, no content has been added.

    Honestly, PR matters mainly if you plan on selling links. It is one of the first questions a customer asks.

    Hi, could you please tell me how to check my domains PA/DA ? and CF/TF ? and what the difference between PA and DA? Is DA more important than PA?

    Thank you !:)

    Moz (mozcheck.com)
    PA = Page Authority
    DA = Domain Authority

    Majestic SEO (majesticseo.com)
    CF = Citation Flow
    TF = Trust Flow

    They are all good metrics to tell the overall value of a domain.

    Thank you all for you answers.

    I'm using it as a money site over a link because it is well established with lots of brand and generic links from the exact niche I am targeting and a 12 year old domain. Tbis will be a ecommerce store where I will be ranking about 50 different products in this niche with about 1-10k searches a month each.

    Plus I have never used a PR domain for a money site and I'm still learning this industry.

    if you want to use it as money site, it should be same niche with previous history. but if you use it as private network you can convert to anything niche you want
