Hello, BHW members, long-time lurker and semi-active member here.

I've decided that it's time I actually put my foot into the world of online marketing and IM for good, and I want to act upon it and SUCCEED, instead of lazing around dreaming about it all day long. This thread is not going to be one of those self-validating, look-at-me-and-my-money threads. If you're interested in what I'm doing, that's cool, but if not, nobody is pointing a gun to your head telling you to read (I hope :p ).

After a lot of reading over the past six months, I've concluded that there's one source of income I'd like to really try. I've succeeded a few rare times, and I failed so many other times trying to make a living through IM. I've abandoned journey threads, and I've given up; it happens. Life gets in the way, stuff happens that you can't control, and before you know it, your domains have already expired. But what you're wondering may be, "What makes this different?"

I'm confident my experiences will help me here. I know what it feels like to fail, and I hate the feeling. The problem then was that I didn't give 100% to everything, and when it didn't work out after a month, I quit. I went back to letting valuable time fly by while I squandered it on video games and having a slave job under a ruthless boss.

The only thing that's ever worked out for me was the fact that I've started my own ORM/Web Design business in my local area a couple months ago. It's been going well and it is the means by which I live for now. But even though there's nothing wrong with that, I want to do MORE. I have time to do MORE. I want to MAKE THINGS HAPPEN AND GROW!

    What are you doing?

I'm going to use a PPD/CPA network or two, find niches (which unfortunately, I can't disclose), build landing pages for those niches, content-lock them with a referral script (if you're a lurker, I know you've seen it on here too), do some SEO on-page and off-page, and hopefully start to see some moola! It's not going to be nearly that easy, however, and I'm very well prepared to take that difficulty and charge at it head-on!

I am targeting mid-to-high keywords (30k+ monthly) that I think I have even a slight chance to rank for. However, my traffic will not only come from searches in Google--I plan to utilize YT, Blogger, etc. to spread my wings as far as they will go.

I will be testing and learning along the way. The only true way to succeed is by trial and error, because nobody can specifically tell you what to do (otherwise we'd all be rich). I'm going to create many different platforms and pages along the way here that I will experiment on. I'm going to use a ton of guinea pigs before the final formula is ready.

How long are you giving yourself?
Personally, I believe that a reasonable time period to hit a steady $2k/month with this strategy will be six months from today (September 10th, 2015). That is my goal, but I'm not stopping there. Even $10/day is going to feel great, and I'm going to make sure every milestone along the way actually means something and shows me that my work is paying off.

And of course, I will update regularly as I hit those milestones, and even when I don't.

    Much ado about Google...
SEO is such a pain for a n00b like me... In this journey, I plan to make every single source of traffic I generate either white-hat or gray-hat. I want everything to be as close to being "by-the-book" as possible, so as to not anger the almighty arbiter that is Google. Though some of my niches may be illegitimate while others are, I want to try to avoid churn-and-burn sites. But I do acknowledge that those are a viable option and could work great.

Regardless, I'm ready to be independent and stick it to Google if they try to pull me from the SERPs. Like I said, I'm going to try to utilize multiple platforms to generate traffic. Then, after the initial wave comes, the referral script will generate traffic for me. ;)

    Equipment and Preparation?
After I find three niches, I'll be set to roll with creating my landing pages. I will need a site that is capable of supporting high volumes of traffic, just in case.

I'm going to likely need some tracking applications to follow my rankings as I go; recommendations are welcome.

    My Journey and You.
Please be aware that I'm not experienced with this at all (yet), but I want to do this. I want all the help I can get, if you're so kind. If you know a better way to host a site that handles referral scripts and high traffic, please recommend it. Search tools? Please inform me. I only know what I've read, and the way by which we all learn is through sharing information. :)

I'm starting today. I will have my niches by tomorrow, as well as a PMD or EMD registered for each. As for hosting them, I need to consider high traffic hosting plans, but I'm not certain as to how I should go about it. I will be figuring that out as well.

I want this journey to be a pilgrimage to glory: a road traveled by those with the drive and the determination to make it to the top of the green mountain. So many have been beaten and are dead along the path, but I'm not planning on joining them. I will fight my way to the top, and if I fail for some reason, they won't take me that easily.

I watched a commercial earlier today that had a beautifully inspiring poem narrated with it. Thought I'd share as I embarked on my adventure...

"You see, you wouldn't ask why the rose that grew from the concrete had damaged petals.
On the contrary, we would all celebrate its tenacity.
We would all love its will to reach the sun.
Well, we are the roses. This is the concrete. These are my damaged petals.
    Don't ask me why...
    Ask me how."

Okay, so I have two EMD and one PMD registered for my sites. I'm ready to get some content rolling before I make it all live. As of right now, the "robots.txt" file has everything disallowed to search engines, so it gives me time to get the ball rolling.

    TO-DO:
-Create graphics and organize a theme for sites.
-Optimize, optimize, optimize the on-page SEO.
-Work on the referral script's integration with my locker.
-Wait for PPD network approval (CF).
-Create videos, put on YT, get views.
    -Register test blogger platforms.
    -So much more...

    THOUGHTS:
I don't think my to-do list is anything CRAZY demanding for the time period I've set for myself, and I'm pretty certain that once I get some views rolling to the videos and have people using that referral script, everything will sell itself on top of what I'm doing to boost it.

Will post back here with another update in a few days as my project progresses and I build some solid content for the landing pages. I'm trying to make a legitimate site with info pages, contacts, etc. That way it doesn't seem like it's TOO much of a locker to the more tech-savvy folks out there.

Also, anyone have any recommendations on tools of the trade? Trying to learn as much as I possibly can while I get everything moving on this.

    Thanks, all.

Save yourself the time and leave CF now.

They are one of the worst networks now and I been with them for over 1 year.

Good luck on the journey tho.

That's sort of eerie. You literally described me haha I've gone through the give-up phase a few times. Left a pretty nice IT job to work for myself in the IM world, with a web design, and PC fixit side gig.

After about two years of dicking around in IM, adult and non, I am still just a struggling IMer. But the web design seems to pay the bills! haha

    Wish you luck, bud.
