I posted a two word keyword article and I instantly started getting traffic. More than 20 unique visitors instantly came to my website and more people are still coming through the google search using these two terms to get to my website. What if I register the .com of these two keywords? Will I be able to get it in first rank even though it's new?

It depends on the current competition of your targetted keywords. Perhaps there are some other existing competitors out there. Nevertheless, if you can leverage on the long tail keywords and write good article on them, your website should be ranked pretty well.

Is there a set up you recommend? Like maybe hubpages, wordpress, etc.?

Ok. I assume you are monetizing with Adsense and some affiliate products(Clickbank most of the time).

If you have money for web host and domain name, I would suggest you to create a self-hosted wordpress blog. You have more control and you can sell it off at the end of the day. You can't simply sell blogspot or hubpages. Add your long tailed keyword optimized articles onto your wordpress blog. Try to optimize your blog SEO with plugin and tags.

If you are really good at writing, rewrite your articles and post them on hubpages, squidoo lenses, blogspots, ezinearticles...the list is exhausted...and leave a link of your main wordpress blog there. This is to generate backlinks as well as drive traffic to your main website.

Basically these are all the common white hat methods. All the best!

I don't know if you can get first rank, you might need to check the PR of sites that are in top listings for the keywords you are looking at. Use firefox with SEOQuake plugin, and do a google search for your keyword. How many results do you get? How many of the top results are ranked 5+ PR? That shows your top competition. Check out those sites in an SEO analyizer and find out where they are getting their incoming links from. Then try to get links from those sites.

You should definitely register a site with the keywords in the title if you are getting good traffic on those keywords. Simple-to-type domains get more traffic b/c people will think you are some official site, plus they can remember the name easier. And anything that makes it easier for visitors to get to your site is good.

BTW, it's not top rank that you really care about, it's getting more traffic. Top rank just gives you more traffic. What matters is what you already did, which is finding the keywords that work for you.

what site are you using to post your articles? AC?

I just have a pagerank 4 and never posted it on Digg or anything. I made a post with the keywords and pinged with ping-o-matic and then my article shows up in Google within an hour. I've submitted it in Digg before but that never made a difference.

Thanks for the tips, I'm going to write a few articles for my site now and see how it goes :D
