One of my sites has been Google dancing for the last 7 months and it is driving me crazy.
It goes to number one for 3 of my main keywords and then after 3 days Google penalises
me for 2 weeks and then my site would appear again at number one. It has been like this
    over and over again.

Any way I thought to myself I wonder if it has got something to do with my external links.
So I used SB sitemap scraper to scrape all of the pages of my website then I exported
    them to SB.

Then I used out bound link checker to check the out bound links to all of my pages. LOW
and behold 10 of my pages had between 6-25 affiliate links opppss .... As you know too
many affiliate links will hurt your site. So I now have between 1-4 affiliate links on all of
my pages this may still be a bit too much.

    Hope this helps

Did you try adding the Nofollow tag to your affiliate links?
Not sure if that would help or not.

If you are worried about your affiliate links being an issue you can always make them no-follow, but I doubt that is the issue.

But if most of the pages on your website have over 5 links pointing to aff product google
will see your site as a spam site and rank your site low

Whenever I'm making a page with lots of affiliate links, I make a separate small page on a separate domain with just the link on, add 'no index, no follow' tags and then put each link in a little i-frame on the main page. So the spiders only see a page with lots of content and no affiliate links.

EDIT - I should say, if you do this make sure your links open in a new tab or window, or they will just open badly in the tiny i-frames.

my site was bouncing in serps like yours just because i stopped building backlinks. It was like i backlinked site 2-3 months and then stopped, so maybe just start making backlinks.

Thats what I thought last year BUT the websites that I am competing with
only have 60 or less back links and some of the sites are the same age as my
site. My site has over 400 backlinks with a few PR5 do follows thats why after the penilty is over I shoot to number one every time

Wouldn't a linking to your own redirect page for your aff link work as well?

I mean build backlinks to stabilize your position. As you said if site come back then its number 1, thats good you have more backlinks or more powerful but your site is bouncing becouse of bad link velocity. Make backlinks, i dont know maybe 10 every day ( make sure they will be indexed) for about month or more and your site will stabilize. If you dont build backlinks google probably put you on lower position for example 8 or something.

It might, but I prefer doing it the I-frame way because that way there are no affiliate links on the domain I'm trying to SEO. I've always been over-cautious about having too many links to anyone else on my pages.

Google doesn't like (that much) affiliate links, make them nofollow if you haven't done already.
It should be better now..good luck.

It might help to cloak your links, and no follow them too.

If you nofollow an amazon link it will not prevent the user from arriving on amazon and you receiving credit for a sale.

And also on select pages have nofollow links to pages that rank a couple of spots behind you for your search terms.
