I'm curious to know if anyone has experience with purchasing non-exclusive content for use on a porn site? My plan is to start a site with non-exclusive content and use the funds generated to re-invest into exclusive productions. I'm hesitant as I wonder how well it will sell initially? I know there are a lot of varying factors, like how good the content is, niche, etc. But I'm hoping to get some feedback that would push me over the fence of just going for it.

You mean like a membership site? then you'll need to have very good content, or something that makes you stan out from the crowd, also since none of your stuff is "original" (I'm thinking you'll offer premium content from other sites) it'll be a good idea to use an offshore hosting, to avoid DMCA issues.
    good luck

You're correct, it would be a membership based site. Although the content will not be original, it will not be stolen content. I might be wrong but I think you're assuming I will be using stolen content from another website. Rather, I will be purchasing non-exclusive content from the original content producer. But there is no way of knowing how many other times the content has been sold. So its a possibility the content could be on 0 - 10 other sites. Or even more. Hopefully not much more.

I think you'll likely be wasting your money unless you try to find this content elsewhere before buying it. If this is aftermarket or private label stuff then there is a chance it won't be "all over the place," but if it's even remotely mainstream porn ... it's probably everywhere. You could always just do what everyone else does and use the "borrowed" content for your starter site and quickly invest profits to something once you know you can acquire profitable content and/or you have a premium customer acquisition channel.

"borrowed" content? by that are you referring to content from other sites, re-branded as my own? Wouldn't that put me on the same path as non-exclusive content in that the content on my site can be found on another site, thereby deterring users from signing up because they could find the content on another site?

I did a quick search and was unable to find the content on another site, but I would not be surprised if it was on other sites. I've been shooting exclusive content here and there, but I would like to speed things up a bit with non-exclusive content.

I will spend some time doing a better search to see where else I could find the content i'm thinking of purchasing.
