Pop Up on Video Pause Question

Hi BHW fam,

I found a movie streaming site with a feature I want to also implement. When you pause a video on his site, a pop up appears in the middle of the video advertising whatever he wants.

How does he do this?

it's probably a pop-up plugin (if Wordpress) that triggers on video pausing. I know for sure that there are plugins that can trigger popups on click, but I don't know if they work with clicking on videos, that's the part that I'm not sure about

Looks like simple js-code script. What is so special about this?
