Whenever I speak to anyone about visitor traffic monitoring they always reply with GA / Google analytics. Personally I dont like it though. I have been used to statcounter for years and it just seems like I can get far more granular with the stats than I can with GA. But of course that could just be the fact that I dont have a clue how to use GA :)

Just wondering what everyone else uses to track visitors / website traffic / stats.

I used to use Statcounter but after taking a course about GA and learned what it's capable of, I switched to GA only. I learn more about my visitors by using GA than Statcounter.

Well David, I have used both statcounter and Google Analytics depending on the project and both get the job done really. The advantage GA has
in my opinion isn't in the analytics as much as in the branding of it. It's recognized by so many groups that if you want to share your analytics for
any reason or even sell your web asset later you can with an overall trusted dashboard. =)

Yea, agree with that. A lot of people I come across in the industry are always talking about GA and as you said I think its the most well known and trusted source of stats.
I like the way it can integrate with adwords as well to give more insight on conversions etc.

But as I said, having used both I do prefer the amount of info that you can get from statcounter.

Personally, G.A & G00G-shortener do the job. Previously, I used Statcounter & Yandex - almost all quite good.
