hi! this is my first post and i have come here after thinking and searching for something.
i am a designer, i have been working with a british guy for over 2 months, i would do the work (i was working for him full time) we had mutually agreed on $2000pm for full 8 hours a day, 5 days a week..
first month was over he was supposed to pay me on 21st Aug, he went offline on 21st Aug.. never came back, he said he will release the money. he gave me some additional tasks on 21st only... he was no where for 10 days, i sent him few messages. he never replied, on 1st sep he cam online and sent me $500. i delivered the delieverables.
now he gave me more task and again this guy vanished, the task was huge, so i was busy till 20th Sep.. i never recieved the first months remaining amount nor the second months money, as the work was online this guy smartly changed the FTP details after i have uploaded everything..
Now out of my $4000 i have recieved only $500. he is using my designs in his site.
i cant reach him, he doesnt pick up calls, doesnt answer my emails. the only thing i am left with is his URL.
so i am planning to use a bot and over market /promote his site, very soon Google will notice it and put it in sandbox..
i really dont wanna do it, but i am left with very few options. plzz advice what should i do. i think i have lost my money, and there are very minimum chances of recovery

Sounds like you got screwed. Thats how it goes sometimes. You shouldn't have worked anymore after not getting paid in full for month1 though. Lesson learned.

Bowl that bitch's site any way you know how, spam, massive xrumer blasts, etc.

the world is very small indeed, ask someone to pay him a visit or call a debt collector in the area and offer a profit sharing if you have all the documents and proof he did not pay you.

Y bother promoting him, Google might not sandbox and you be wasting your effort.

Unfortunately it seems it has been an expensive lesson. As has been said you shouldn't have carried on working after you didn't get your 1st months money. I know it's hard but treat it part of the learning process. It goes without saying anything you can do to stitch the bas^&rd up DO IT!

That is really an unfortunate experience for you. Think of it as a lesson well learned. Then, next time you find an job opportunity like that, think twice and be very careful and make sure that the company or person offering you that job has a good reputation. If you have a little information about the person who hired, you can still, perhaps, use those to locate him or report him to the right authorities. ;)

Yep it's unfortunate for sure but as people have stated above you should never have continued working until you got the first $2k. Feel for you though, it's a tough lesson.

OP, unless you know what you're doing (and from your post, don't think you do) you won't harm his site.

Sucks that you got taken.
Should probably speak to a lawyer.

Looks to me like he asked for help and then chickened out maybe...

The first time he didn't pay me I would have flat out stopped, not kept working with him.
I would have demanded the rest of the money or he doesn't get what he wanted and you walk with the $500.

And depending on what type of designing or w/e you did, you should have released DEMO only products to him. Never release a full finished product without watermarking/self destructing coding/half assed codes until payment is cleared.

why would you even work on the new tasks when he hasn't paid you the remaining amount?

Since they are your designs....maybe you could get them copyrighted and then force the asshole to either pay or take them off of his site. Just a thought.

Post his URL. I'll make sure to screw up his 'site' to such an extent, that generating any business towards it will be futile.

i am very much here... i am really pissed off with my efforts got wasted. thanx to you all, i have sent him first and last warning, i will definitely post the URL in open here, just gave him time for two days, i dont want him to suffer a LOT coz of this..
Now the answer to the question why i didnt back out, i am a new designer from a small part of the world, i was really looking for a break. i was confident of doing a good job, and the money offerred was good. On top of all this guy is still using my designs. had i done some bad job or something awful, he should have removed the designs.. but he didnt. i will wait for two days and post the URL here. plzz help me in screwing his Search ranking

lesson well learned, ask for the cash upfront, ddos him. or something lol, no don't do that, its illegal. try to make something out of it. do a search on his site, get his info, address name, #, everything you can. either take him to court or chalk it up as a loss
