To clarify what I'm looking for, I'd really like to find a good piece of software that can take the monthly logs from my website server and break them down into catagories such as where my traffic is coming from and unique visits as opposed to returning visitors etc.

It would be a huge bonus if I could use the same software for several different sites that I run/own.

I'm not crazy about Google Analytics although I do use it, but I'd like something that sits on my desktop. Call it personal preference or what have you.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction on this one.

Cheers,

I actually find that Statcounter, although it's quite basic, works well.

It actually seems more reliable and consistent than Google Analytics most of the time.

Thanks for the great suggestions, I'm looking through them now.

I'd kinda like to have the stats displayed on my desktop but I guess I shouldn't rule out online services.

A couple of years ago I remember there was a piece of software that resided on your PC and when you updated the data logs from your site it would break everything down into charts and explanations. I wish I could remember the name of the software.

Anyone know of anyhting similair to this?

is it one of these? http://www.tucows.com/software.html?t2=1686 maybe IBP

I download my logs from statscounter and just look at the spreadsheet manually. I wouldn't mind a software that woudl analize my sites and snoop on my compeditors.
