Hi guys, So after returning to BHW about a month ago I've spent a lot of time reading up on SEO on the forum and have learnt a LOT; given that I knew nothing about SEO, link-building, what a web 2.0 property was, or anything like that before, I'm really pleased with what I have learnt over the last few weeks! I've created a few TV show sites through WP and initially was going to outsource the SEO, but have since realised it would be too costly to hire someone reputable to do it, and I just couldn't trust the people that were offering it much cheaper. Also it would be an excellent opportunity for me to test what I've learnt and of course make mistakes and then learn even more, if I do this myself! I'm still a noob though, and would really appreciate any advice that could be given. Below I've listed the different things I believe I should be doing for effective and natural looking SEO, but if people with more experience could confirm whether or not I have the right idea, that would be massively beneficial! I have also listed some other questions I have at the end, and if anyone can answer one/any of these that would be greatly beneficial! I really do appreciate the patience and help of the people on this forum, I really look forward to being in a position when I can give something back - since I came back here I've been noting every question I've had and everything I've learnt in a little notebook, and plan to type this up and make it available on the forum so the many people who start off here in the same position as me can hopefully find the most common questions answered in one place (although I know there are similar things available already anyway!). -------- SEO Strategy: 1) Blog commenting: to be done daily, preferably from relevant, high PR blogs with relevant comments. Important to mix up the anchors used to look natural. Quantity - as many as time allows, but try and keep relatively consistent (although this may not be so important since if one could just do abnormal comment quantities then it would be an easy way to ruin competitors positions using SB). I will be finding relevant places to comment using SB and also Google Alerts. 2) Forum profiles: to build backlinks like with blog commenting but these are unlikely to actually bring visitors unless I combine them with forum posts too, but either way should provide link juice, especially if from high PR .edu/.gov links 3) Web directories: one-off task that will build backlinks. Could use software but better success rate if done manually - can be outsourced cheaply. 4) Article directories: important to keep backlinks diverse... perhaps submit one article/site a week using AMR? I could either do a summary of the most recent/next episode OR summarise the latest/news gossip of that show. Not sure if 1 a site each week is too little, and also what type of article would work best, and even if it MATTERs what the article content as long as it makes sense so it can get approved? 5) Web 2.0 properties: like YouTube and Squidoo; also important for diverse link building. I think I could use the same articles I submit to article directories and do this once a week? 6) Social media bookmarking: again important for diverse link building and can be done manually or through software like BMD. Probably risky to bookmark my own domain since it is new, but it would be useful to bookmark my articles on article directories and Web 2.0 properties in order to have more than one layer of links... so also once a week? ============= Would really appreciate people's comments on the above - if I've got something (or all of it) wrong please tell me! Also anyways I can improve this would massively help too! Edit: Also one thing I don't get understand is indexing/pinging because I see so many different services on the forum for it, Linklicious, Dripable etc etc and some people say it's not necessary, others say it is.. Not sure what to do about that!
one article per site is too LOW.. Instead of Using AMR get links from private blog networks(its working great for me).
Thanks everyone; I was really expecting that I'd got something wrong and that I'd need to change it around! You think I should do more than one article then? Does it matter whether or not these articles are posted on my site or not? Also do they actually have to all have good content, or does it not matter what the content is as long as keywords are there? Thanks
I personally like using "THE Backlinking Strategy That Works" from the SmartPassiveIncome blog, it's pretty much a refinement of a long thread on Warrior forum (one of the few good things that has come out of there, lol) Instead of UAW I like using forum profiles to build links to the buffer web 2.0 sites and the like. But your strategy is pretty classic OP, just stick with it and make sure on page stuff is set up correctly, use sites like SEOmoz and SEOBook for info on that.
Good idea, submit your applicable backlinks to rss feeds and social bookmarks so they get indexed faster.
yeh more than one,no matter what is posted on ur site,i dont know about others but for articles directories i dont post unique content,if the content is related to the keyword then its better.btw if u have SB and AMR PM ME! i have awesome idea for you!
I support almost all of the activities you have included in your strategy, but after each month you should start collecting backlinks from new domains and also search any new technique which can be added in the list.
Ya you are on the track ....... just keep up to date seo related to get latest list of blogs, directories ,forums and latest other information
I am a noob too and face some of the same challenges but I will say this looks like a good strategy. I like your process for #1 and I am adamant about it. Half the BH crew say no link is bad and others say be wary and then there is this topic: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...dy-testing-effects-excessive-backlinking.html Which muddy's the waters even more, to play it safe I would say stay on point with your original thought on #1. #6 for a few bucks they can do it for you with different IP's I am about to order it myself. http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...aking-submission-service-starts-just-4-a.html Regarding the Web 2.0 properties one thing I have heard is you can indeed blast the hell out of those and will actually help, but dont do it to your main site. Let me know how it goes!
Great post, I love your strategy. I have a quick question from someone with a lot of white hat reading but new to BHW. When you're using tools like AMR or SBD, do you risk linking back to your own site or make another entity somewhere with a link to your site and then use AMR and SBD to link to that? I'm interested in these tools but REALLY want to be cautious. Thanks for any help.
Here's the best SEO Strategy: do keyword research insert the best keyword in your page's title tag and in your page's URL get links of all kinds focusing on and around the keyword never stop
