    Hi :D

We want to promote a brick and mortar business with one or more social media sites.
The business buys and sells gold and silver and platinum and jewelry, etc.
We have a website and we want to drive local traffic to the site via social media.
We've never done any social media marketing so were asking our friends here.

Which SM sites have you used?
Which gave you traffic to your local business?
Which one has the best, targeted traffic?

I'm looking at using LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube,
but right now, I only have time to use one site at a time.

    Thanks a lot!

    Definitely Pinterest.
Girls love it, and putting jewelry in there will be a great fit!

I agree with pinterst for jewelery, but by and large you will not push much local traffic with social media unless you are in a very large city. I am in Houston TX, and I have very little success using social media to drive traffic for local service providers.

    Thanks, guys!
I should say that we don't sell much jewelry. We're much more into buying it.
So, I need local traffic that wants to make $$$ selling their jewelry.
Yes, we're in a big city about the size of Houston.

@sldebo: I had a feeling that it's going to be tough to connect with local social media users...
and then try to persuade them to part with their gold & silver so they can earn some buck$.

Maybe I should just stick with SEO.

Use PPC daily to get the ones who are at a point that they are ready to sell and PPV to target competitors sites. Done right, you can see immediate results. Social might work if you are buying and selling heirloom quality jewelry, but not if you are smelting.

Of course, done wrong you can loose your A$$. . . .

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

Linkedin has a huge database of bricks and mortar business owners. That would be my first starting point.
