Okay, here's the story:

I went to bed last night with my iPad 2 in my bed. I am 100% sure that I passed out with it in my bed. When I woke up, it was gone. Nowhere to be found.

I took apart my whole room and bed completely and cannot find it. The chances that it got stolen is VERY low because I would have woken up if they grabbed it off my bed.

The only way I can think to figure out if it's still in my house is this:

I need to access my router and find out if the iPad is still connected to the WiFi. It's not a 3G ipad so i can't track it that way.

If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know. I'm starting to think there is a poltergeist in my house..

Thanks!

If you can tell me what kind of router you have, I can probably help you out. :)

Generally you will need to connect to your routers admin panel and look around for 'Connected Devices' or something similar. Most likely you will find it under some sort of security settings.

look for another computer or device to connect to your router.

If it is a windows open a command prompt run>cmd>Enter

type ipconfig and look for the default gateway, generally 192.168.0.1

type the default gateway into your web browser and enter user:admin pass:motorola if you have not changed default.

man, you've got to be really bad in bed for an electronic device to sneak out on you before you wake up.

It's a Motorolla SBG6580

In your web browser's address bar, copy/paste 192.168.0.1 and press enter. You will then be asked for your login details. The default details, if you haven't changed anything are...

Username: admin
Password: motorola

Look for something labeled "DHCP Client List" or "Connected Devices."

I'm not very experienced with this type of router, but a little Google search gave me the above info. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the help guys. I cannot log in to my router with the defaults login even though i've never changed it. I remember my ISP saying something about not allowing people to access these new routers for security reasons or some bullshit. Guess i'll have to call them in the morning.

You would be surprised. In China, a friend of mine had his apartment broken into while he was asleep. He had a decent laptop on the nightstand next to him with a real Ipod sitting on top of it. The thief took the laptop and left the Ipod. The scary part was he also had a large knife sitting on the same nightstand while the burglar was only inches from him.

The burglar repelled from the roof (with help from accomplice) of the 7 story building into the 6th floor balcony and left the same way. Front door was still locked from the inside.

Two weeks later? He got robbed again, but this time we think it was an escort he fell asleep with. Idiot.

iPad is not that small, it can't just disappear like a cell phone, i bet someone trying to fool you

if i were you, i'd rather start extorting people/bribing them with some candy who have access to your mansion than calling the ISP regarding to the router
