Usually im used to just hitting the P letter then the tab button it usually autocompletes it.

    start -> run - > cmd.exe
    type "cd /" (without quotes)
"dir" and it will list all of your folders and files.
"cd program files" or "cd program files (x86)" if you're running a 64-bit OS.

you can type "cd .." if you need to go to a parent directory

cd\ [ENTER] to get to the root
    cd program files [ENTER]

Or in case you don't have activated support for long file names you should use
    cd progra~1 [ENTER]

That should do the trick and if not... Well then I guess you aren't logged in as administrator and/or don't have admin access in DOS environment.

to go to it from any folder just do this:

    Code:
    cd \progra~1
the backslash in dos indicates the root directory... so if you was in the windows folders it would go straight to it using this

but if you did this in whilst in the windows folder

    Code:
    cd progra~1
it would try to move into a sub folder of windows called that

similarily if you want to get to the root folder quickly ie the c: just do this

    Code:
    cd \
    saves having to do

    Code:
    cd ..
    over and over...

    hth
