Hi everyone. Thanks so much for reading this post in advance. I seriously need some help if you have a moment. I have been running my channel for a bit over one year. During this time we have nearly 5k subs and some videos that managed to get 200k or more views. We add about 8-16 subs a day now. I sincerely thought our channel would grow more by now. Instead all our latest videos get nearly no views. 100+ on average per video in the first week then they drop to like 8 per day. We try to upload about every day and at the moment have 279 videos total.

Our channel is for kids. Our daughter is 5 yrs old and is the cutest little host. She just loves doing this! We do mainly toy reviews and some book readings.

We have all social media accounts which we update constantly. Up to 15x per day each account. We even have a website for the channel.

We also shoot very high quality material. Proper lighting. Audio. Everything to deliver a quality experience to our viewers. We don't cut any corners.

Even with all this work, instead of growing, our channel has remained stagnant earning today just about what it did one year ago with 20 videos.

I don't know what to do at this point. I have not tried black hat techniques and frankly as much as I try to read up on it, it seems to be illusive. There is a channel that started at exactly the same time we did that is set up exactly like ours (little girl about 4-5 as the host) reviewing toys. I can say our videos are edited nicely and are more engaging. That said. In the same amount of time they have views on videos in the millions and now over 300k subscribers!!

I realize that there is a trick used that propelled them to the top but I can't imagine that they spent thousands of dollars on buying views. 63 million views on one single video is super expensive if they were bought! They have the same amount of videos we do!

My my question and my plea for help is to you guys. I really don't want to quit but can't afford to go on like this much longer. Is there anyone who is willing to help us?

I can give my channel name but don't know if it's allowed here. I can post it in a reply if necessary. Please lmk if you can help. I am willing to make it worth your time even interested in partnering with someone who knows how to really grow a channel. Or we can talk on here. However you like.

Thank you for your time everyone!

This is very unusual information. Usually, in the long run. Content always wins. If you're saying it is much better and engaging, I do not understand what is going wrong. You may need to hire a professional digital marketing guy who could push it further. Take care of the cute daughter for us. Kids with confidence is what the future needs. All the best. It will work out, don't you worry :)

I won't mind hiring someone if they could truly help. But where to start? I am a professional videographer in my day job. I know everything about it. But when it comes to the magic formula of YouTube I'm at a loss. I've tried writing descriptions in different ways. Tried different keyword combinations. Hell I've even copied some from successful videos just to try different things. It's frustrating. We've spent so much time and money in this channel.

    1) what is your target market
    2) does your target market ever search for videos on youtube? If yes what keywords do they use to search?
    3) If not, thats ok, but what does your target market want to see?
    4) What call to action do you have on your videos?

Could be related to keywords. Your competitor may have an edge in that. Maybe that is how they are getting views quicker and more subscribers. It's possible an influential celebrity found and tweeted their videos. Anything can happen.

Let me know if you need any help. :)

Have you checked your competitors tags and their keyword usage in their titles and descriptions? Usually you can find a common theme of keywords they are using as wlle as tags on their videos and then use those on your videos to target the same people. If your content quantity and quality are about the same or better than your competitor then it leaves me to believe two things. They got lucky or they are using a keyword you are not and should be.

our target audience is children. Our daughter watched similar videos before we started, starting at the age of 2. Now she is 5 and still watches them.

Our videos are a mix of opening toys and playing with toys. Some videos we even do funny skits using the toys. Generally these types of videos aren't searched for because children don't search. They pretty much click anything on the recommended boxes below a video. That is what our daughter does. Parents would probably search for toy videos or videos for kids. Stuff like that. Maybe sometimes Disney or Barbie if their kids like those.

Call to action we have of course cards to other videos as well as end video annotations asking to subscribe (with VoiceOver) or see more videos linking to other videos. Descriptions also contain links to other videos. Textbook stuff.

i thought about that but I have examined their keywords and they use the same ones. I've tried many combinations and approaches all with same results.

The channel I compare to since it started in the same month as us and posts similar types of videos has been getting large view amounts since day one. There is no way this was celebrity related. I know what you're saying. I emailed the guy once asking how and in a nutshell he said it's all luck. His channel somehow went viral. Now if there is one thing I know so far is that there is no such luck on YouTube. There has to be more to it. My only thinking was that he has been buying views from the start. That said, how many views does one need to buy to get a video from 0 to 36 million in just a few months. Buying 36 million is unaffordable. So how is it possible?

. I have 278 videos at the moment. I've tried every keyword combo and have even copied from the top videos. All to no avail. All I can think of is the keyword like Barbie doll or toy channel or toys for kids, are too competitive to rank in without a "cheat". Am I right in deducing that?

IDK if I would call it a cheat, but isolating some main tag/keywords can boost your whole channel for that keyword which gives all your videos a boost in that keyword. Obviously, involved viewers/subscribers, social signals, and regular old linking is good for boosting videos. Like google, the more "good" views/subs that engage (leave comments or watch multiple of your vids) will boost your ranking. Have you found any communities/groups that you might be able to contribute with on facebook?

no I haven't found any Facebook groups. I do post on Google+ groups. I'm not entirely sure I know how to find Facebook groups that would be interested.

We did some YouTube ads but honestly it got so expensive at such a small return that we found it wasn't worth it. I'm sure that this competing channel didn't buy ads for his videos to go from 0 to 36 million in the same time we have been around. That would be crazy expensive.

Try sharing your videos on reddit and other social networks. Also try boosting them with buying youtube views

We did Reddit for a bit and didn't see any kind of jump while doing it. Post views were like 0. I don't claim to know much about Reddit but what I did was for example post on subreddit YouTube or toys and posted a new link subreddit and some comments on existing ones as well.

When buying views. How many are necessary for a video to live on its own when the view buy stops? 10k, 50k, 200k, ?

Maybe the niche your using isn't in demand.

If you need YT for financial gains you need to go the copyright route that's a more guarantee way of making money on YT but you also get in a lot of trouble with it as well.

The toy niche is huge. Videos in this space get millions of views. I think the problem is trying to compete when you're a small channel, against channels that used cheats to establish their positions. What I'm trying to figure out is what to do to get our videos in front of an audience.
