Hello people! I need advice from you. I was working on my site for last 6 months, and I need to sell it. It has page rank 3, alexa about 40k. It made me 500$ a month. So how much is this worth?

With what? Adsense? CPA? Link selling?
How long has it been earning that?
WHere does traffic come from? How much traffic does it get?
    Ranked for any good keywords?

When selling a site no one gives a fuck about PR or Alexa, specially when it is only PR3

500 a month profit? if you are Alexa 40k and legit, then I'm guessing your server expenses are ~200 a month..

Need to answer the ?s above too, where is the revenue, how stable, traffic, ect.

It's a tough market right now. If its based solely off of traffic and advertising than it might be able to go for the traditional 10x profit, which would be ~5k, but its young, unstable (from an outsider's perspective) and still needs a lot of work.

I would be very surprised to see people buying ads on the site with only ~200 uniques a day, it'd be too risky for me.

I agree with sk1ll... your site sounds like one of the other 100 sites listed at flippa right now without a single bid.

Unfortunately the market is dry right now, not many people are buying sites unless they are real gems, or unless you are willing to let it go for a ridiculously low price.

Beter wait a bit and get your stats up.

    It's not 200 uniques a day. It's 2k uniques a day. 200 from search engines.

that sounds a lot better. Still though, just looking from the stats I would, personally, be risk adverse in this situation

Based on what you've said so far this is how you'd calculate the value. $500 income x 12 (1 years worth) = $6,000. Alexa ranking of about 40k will bring you another $10,000-$25,000 in value depending on niche and website design, layout, etc. 60k unique visitors a month brings about another $5k-$10k depending on what country most traffic from and where, etc.

So the value of your site from what I've read so far is atleast: $21,000

    ^^ I disagree immensely.

First, Alexa rank will not increase the worth of your company, it's good to have and provides *some* credibility, but it will not add those figures to your site. It's unreliable, easily manipulated, and skewed.

The uniques will not add that value to it either, they are already factored into the profit that the site is making, adding that additional value is overestimating the worth.

At this low of traffic, age, ect, they are only valued based off of the profit they are making per month.

My site is Alexa 30-somethingK (fluctuates) and I pay $15/month hosting with a good US host. And, it's a legit site. So, what you said isn't necessarily the case.

I agree with what you said about Alexa being unreliable, though. My site gets 25-30k uniques a DAY and is only 10k better ranked than the OP who gets 60k a month.

    nufaman,

It's not B.S. at all. If you find the companies or people to buy your site (such as sitepoint.com) people will pay LARGE amounts of money for already established websites.

    sk1ll,

Alexa makes a HUGE difference in sales because that's One of the first things the buyer checks for. Yes, I agree that it can be manipulated, but that's why the buyer asks for proof of income, traffic, etc, and gets you to sign a contract which says the data was not manipulated.

If you have a website that through legit ways got to top 10k of alexa, your site will automatically be valued at a MINIMUM of $100,000.

Do the research if you don't believe me.

why do you bother with alexa? i can game alexa in one night and get my ranking below 100k in one night. it's funny to see people don't understand that alexa doesn't mean anything in terms of your revenue. it's just a fame. open ur eyes.

    Hello,

It all depends what kind of niche the site is.

If its a porn site, warez, something illegal you cant run CPM/ Adsense on you will be lucky to get 6 months revenue.

Its a tough market at the moment not many sites are selling for 12 months revenue even if they are in more stable niches.

I know I have sold around 30 sites in the last 3 years.

People dont care too much about alexa, they are about long term proven revenue with proof, long term traffic stats in analytics, and what niche it is.

Alexa ranks can be faked any way, they only count people whoa re using the alexa tool bar, so if you have a webmaster website then your site will rank crazy high, but if you have a site that targets all school kids then it will rank lower.

Anyone that says that Alexa gives a value of $10,000-$25,000 has no idea what he is talking about. I could put the Alexa toolbar on my browser and make my site go to a 40k rank in a short amount of time
