    Step 1
    Open index.php
    Find the include code for the footer. Normally, the footer include code shows like this:
    <?php get_footer(); ?>
    Step 2
    Add this comment code on the top and bottom of the footer code:
    <!--Footer code starts here say's ThemeDump.com-->
    <?php get_footer(); ?>
    <!--Footer code ends here say's ThemeDump.com-->Save the file and upload it to the server.
    Step 3
    Load the theme in a browser. View the source code by clicking
    View -> Source (If you view in IE) or
    Ctrl + U (If you view in Firefox)
    Step 4
    The source code in between <!--Footer code starts here say's ThemeDump.com--> and <!--Footer code ends here say's ThemeDump.com--> is the source code for the footer.
    Now, open footer.php and replace the encrypted code with the actual source code.
    You can then start to modify the footer in anyway you want.

    I found this on themedump.com

    That's good you were able to just replace the footer. Be sure to remember the solutions warren and kaidoristm gave you though. Usually when a theme designer encrypts a footer they also include some bit of code that the rest of the theme needs to work. It's done that way to make sure that you leave their backlink in the theme footer. You just got lucky that just replacing the footer file was sufficient for you this time.
