I’ve been testing different strategies to grow a Pinterest account organically this year and I’m curious what’s working best for others right now.

Idea Pins seem to get decent reach, but standard pins sometimes feel inconsistent in terms of traffic.

For those running niche accounts, what type of content has been performing best lately — Idea Pins, static pins, or video pins? Would love to hear some real experiences from people actively growing on Pinterest.

Regular static pin is what I create and recommend, I've never created video or idea pins before but I've seen someone mentioned that their idea pins don't get outbound clicks.

Even the static regular pins, the ones that drive traffic are typically ones with texts. Plain images attract impressions but almost no outbound clicks.

Right now Idea Pins are getting the most reach and engagement, but they don’t really drive traffic. Static pins still seem to bring the actual clicks if they’re optimized properly.

The best move is to use both, one for growth & the other for traffic.

Idea pins - reach, video pins - best balance, static pins - still best for traffic/seo. Most growth comes from combining all three - use idea pins for exposure, then funnel to static/video pins for clicks.

It all depends on your niche, but in practice, static pins work best. They generate much more reach.

The best strategy is using video idea pins to aggressively farm engagement and band authority while simultaneously pinning static rich pins with high contrast text oerlays to drive actual clicks

I've noticed the same trend lately. Idea Pins are definitely the algorithm's favorite for raw reach and building "account authority," but they’re notorious for keeping people on the platform rather than sending them to your site

From my tests, Idea Pins give the reach, but static pins with bold text overlays drive the clicks. I drop in a few video pins here and there for engagement, but they’re not the main traffic driver. So yeah—use Idea Pins for exposure and funnel to optimized static pins for clicks.

For organic growth on Pinterest in 2026, video pins and Idea Pins often drive the most reach while well optimized static pins tend to bring more consistent clicks, so combining all three formats with strong keywords and niche focused content usually delivers the best long-term results.

I think pinterest now is also about sharing right type of pins which will get most traffic. In old times, pinterest big board pins was used to remain always key factor, now in 2026. if you want to increase followers use image pins but if you want to have more traffic sharing some video pins will remain good

Idea Pins can get decent reach, but they don’t always send much traffic because people often stay inside Pinterest. Static pins still seem better for clicks, especially if the title is clear, the design is clean, and the pin matches a real search intent.

I have noticed that video pins seem to get the most attention, while static pins can be hit or miss. Idea Pins often get good reach, but I am not sure they drive as much traffic as regular pins. It feels like Pinterest is favoring engaging content more than ever.
