Can anyone provide a brief overview of the benefits of Pinterest from an SEO perspective?
Its a developing Social Media connectivity. If your website have more pics , you can use this option.
social media benefit is important these days, also you can get lot of traffic from pinterest
I don't know about Pinterest sorry, but I thought some information would be helpful. I recently noticed some of my posts getting really good ranking in google just by mass tweets. I post an article and make people tweet the news. I exchange around 400 tweets in one day (and stop it there) and they get indexed in no time, and get high visits too.
It might seem not relative to the topic, but I do believe that Social Media has some good effects on SEO.
I was hoping to get some detailed insight as to how I can use Pinterest from an SEO perspective?
Zee07, for sites which have a significant amount of media on them (stores with images of products, general sites which have media as a major part of their online presence etc), Pinterest is a solid asset. Think of it like Facebook and Twitter for images. You probably have read a ton of info about Social Signals becoming the primary factor in SERPs for Google. Include Pinterest in your Social Media efforts - if you have images that are worth bookmarking. It gives you a HUGE surge in terms of traffic, rankings, etc. On Google Analytics, you'll see a greater number of visitors coming in via your images, which isn't bad at all.
However, Pinterest hasn't given out an API (to my knowledge), which makes automated access difficult. Work has to be done by hand - which is good if you work on your own business site
there was a guy who explained how he ranked his site with pinterest.. i can't remember his username but i remember he talked about plumbing in new york or something.. damn i'm getting old.
Pinterest is great for picture sites and sites that appeal to women. If you don't have either of those I would stay away. The backlinks are pretty worthless.
This is what i found ...
1) Rank on Google
Google bots regularly scan and index content from Pinterest because the content of the website is constantly updated. This is your opportunity to be able to overcome his opponent for keywords selected by optimizing the images for the response on Pinterest that keyword.
2) Backlink and direct traffic
Each image is "attached" to Pinterest are links to the original sources. And this link has a very high value not only in terms of SEO, but also in terms of direct traffic from Pinterest to your website.
3) The amount of searching on Pinterest
Every day there are millions of people looking for information about the brand on Pinterest. So your brand has been on Pinterest and ready to be people looking for or not?
4) Expand the brand online
Like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest can be considered as a useful tool to help you expand your brand on the Internet and achieve certain advantages over competitors.
Pinterest is the only social networking site focused on the image. And you can also see a lot of pictures of different and specialized content. Please take advantage of this characteristic of Pinterest and build your brand image.
web presence, social signals, backlink referral and many
Make the name of your boards keywords you want to rank for. If you want to rank for black shoes, make a board named black shoes. Do the same for the description. Your board may rank high in the serps for competitive keyword phrases. Some of mine do.
There indeed was a method thread about this. Basically went like this, name board the kw you are trying to rank for, add about 50-60 images with kw and variations you want to rank for, then hit it with a bunch of bookmarks/comments/profiles/web 2.0's etc... and he ranked, or he said he did.
I am not sure how competitive the niches are that are targeted but worth trying on low/med niches as a test...
All you have to do is...mix your SEO strategy with social signal and you will get benefits soon. There are different kinda social signals and pinterest is also the one!
Pinterest produce high tier traffic, but it's never been easy to get them... So you should put some effort into it..
Separate names with a comma.
