Pinterest allows affiliate links again

Just in case you didn't notice: https://business.pinterest.com/en/blog/affiliate-links-are-now-allowed-pinterest

Apparently they are allowing affiliate links again. just what that exactly means..well i dunno. Guess spamming pins pointing towards amazon is still not acceptable. I'll schedule a trial for in two weeks though

Interesting! What do we know?


- Smartfeed: Your followers may or may not see your pins. Your followers will see other people's pins. High engagement pins get shown a lot more. Hence, new images (something that never existed online before) will have a tough time getting traction.
- Universal Pin Description: Pins will show original text. Adding your description, including URLs, will not be shown.
- Pins autochanging URLs. Undocumented. Some scrapers are seeing their pin URL changing to something else, probably the original site. My personal experience is that some original images of mine were scraped, but eventually changed to my site. I used to bookmark these pins that's how I noticed the changes. My theory is that some images have been flagged so many times that Pinterest decided to just take care of it automatically.
- Group boards engagement have been toned down. Undocumented. Bloggers (not just BHW) are seeing less traffic from group boards. My personal experience is that non-groups have overtaken impression counts in analytics.


Please add more. It's good to know what we're working with. On the surface, this announcement seems like a dream come true for many IMers. But is it really?

Maybe it's because they have started pushing their advertising system. I wonder who they are going to decide which is spam and which is an okey affiliate link.
