Put simply, Ping.fm is a status update tool that sends your updates to a handful of your favorite microblogging services. So far, Ping.fm supports Twitter, Facebook, Jaiku, Tumblr and Pownce. The concept is one that will catch on like wildfire in the coming months, and the options for submitting an update come in the form of email, IM, its Google gadget, and a desktop application.

Though Ping.fm is still a simple service that's easy to use, I think a more fluid registration process for assigning various services (and even supporting multiple accounts for a given service) could make the setup process even easier. Be forewarned, you'll need to add the Ping.fm Facebook application in order to send updates to Facebook via Ping.fm.

Making an update on Ping.fm pushes the update to a number of different social websites at once. This allows individuals using multiple social networks to update their status only once, without having to update it in all their social mediums individually. Ping.fm groups services into three categories - status updates, blogs, and micro-blogs - and updates can be sent to each group separately.

A user can configure his or her Ping.fm account to aggregate content to the following services:

Code:
Bebo
Blogger
Brightkite
Custom URL
Delicious
Facebook
FriendFeed
Friendster
hi5
Identi.ca

I have been using Ping.fm for a couple of months. Great Tool. Now if I could just find a decent PingFm app that would work with my blackberry

For what it's worth, someone has written a PHP wrapper class for ping.fm. It's available from the phpclasses site:

use pingpressfm plugins if you use wordpress ..

Thanks for this tip, been using tweetmyblog but pingpressfm is much better, been using pingfm for a while now and ive been getting some good traffic and signups for free stuff from it.

Sure .. i try my self and got traffic into my blog, generate few click for my adsense.

i fixed the pingpressfm plugin which has been not working for wordpress in the later versions. It posts from your wordpress blog to ping,fm site. Pm me if you are interested

Awesome stuff... Excellent for social media platform marketing.

why use more plugins? ping.fm has a feature where it will track a RSS feed and ping out any new content.

less stress on your server.

ping is perfect, precisely placed to populate the public with periodic posts... :)

thats true... less work
