We all get it, right? Some guy comes and slips it under the door, puts it in the box, or leaves it at the front of the door... Those guys work with the mail.. right?

.. Let's say I want to give them a flyer to distribute... Who do I contact? Or like.. has anyone does this before?

I want to promote a growing business, and want the mailman to give out the flyer...

darkmobius, I was thinking about it.
    But.. is it legal?

I mean... is it legal for them to walk up to houses, drop off the flyer, or go to some buildings and 'somehow' get inside of them and drop of the flyers next to each door?

.. Isn't that called "solicitating" "solicitation"

No haha. It's illegal, and the USPS doesn't fuck around. I worked for a pizza joint as a teenager that got fined $20k for hitting a few neighborhoods with flyers in mailboxes. If you want to advertise in the junk paper it shouldn't be difficult to find out who is publishing the ads. Just contact the newspaper it's in. This stuff is usually handled by a third party. ;)

But I'm getting ads not inside the paper. I'm getting flyers from gyms, cable, pizza pizza, etc.. How do they do it?

That approach should be fine as far as the legality end of it, but if you are niche marketing offline, you most likely won't get a strong response from just hitting random houses (like the example, dog training).

If dog training is the offline niche you want to hit, I'd suggest calling every breeder you can. You could offer them a flat fee (like $10 or something) for every customer you get who was recommended by them. You'd probably end up with much more targeted prospects with that approach.

    SPB7878, going from your example

    If the product is $10

    5000 flyers for $250
I need to sell 25 products to break even. That is 0.5%
Plus some dude to do it for another.. lets say... $100
So you don't think out of those 5000 flyers I'll sell it to a minimum of 35 customers?

    Direct mail.

That's not some dude just stopping by to drop a flyer in your mailbox. ;)

To be honest with you I have 0 experience with "dog training" and how it converts or doesn't, but I do have some experience with offline marketing. Again it's JMO, but I think you'd be better off hitting a higher price point and marketing your product to targeted prospects.
