Hey, I'm doing some whitehat, offline advertising, and I've noticed that my conversion ratios are incredibly high (like 4 conversions in 5 clicks, on average). I want to make this look more natural (i.e. dilute my conversions), and I'm looking to write some php code that, when my link is clicked, will start trafficholder traffic, then, once the page counts a random number of clicks (like 15-25), it turns off the trafficholder traffic. Can anyone with php experience help me on this? Thanks!

I would suggest creating a looping mechanism that executes the function if your link is clicked. My PHP knowledge is still developing but I know Java and they are both similar. However to implement this in your situation would require me to do more research. Am going out of town for the day so can't work on a solution, but will keep an eye on this thread when I get back and see what I can do. Actually I would like someone to elaborate on this too, it sounds interesting...

Thanks for your insight, I think it's very interesting as well, and would be a beneficial thing for many situations. I'm still developing my programming knowledge as well, and I've looked into it and have a basic idea of how it would work, but coding it myself, at least for now, is outside of my skill level.

I believe it can be done using AJAX and PHP also with database support. It won't be very hard. I can help you out. You can PM me.

If you're doing whitehat really effectively, why do you want to dilute your traffic? When your AM asks why your conversions are so high just tell him what you're actually doing and he'll be happy to have someone generating good leads.

Well I've always heard that you want to maintain a certain conversion ratio, otherwise things look fishy. Especially because some networks frown or outright disallow offline traffic. I'm hesitant to bring it up to my am because if they disallow it, this is an exclusive offer thats converting really well. So yes, I am kind of torn, but I still think this tool would be very useful, and since the leads are backing out anyway, the advertiser should be fine, and it just protects me as well.

High conversions aren't bad if it is all legit traffic. If you are getting high conversion and high charge backs then they will probably question your methods. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it as you say all of it is legit and simply laser targeted traffic.

That's only really a problem if it actually is fishy. If your doing whitehat promotions then it doesn't really matter. You just need to let the AM know what your doing.

Most people doing blackhat methods try really hard to keep a lower conversion ratio so they can stay under the radar. They don't want to answer any questions from the AM, because they really don't have any legit answers. They can of course lie, but it's easier just not to get the call.

Well before you start trying to protect yourself from it you should start looking through the TOS and FAQs to find out for sure.

The problem is that sending junk traffic to lower your conversion rate is a blackhat technique. If you're running a whitehat campaign and the network identifies the junk traffic your sending they might be harder to convince that you're conversions really are whitehat.

Seems like a lot of extra coding when you can just set your TH 'max hourly forces' to whatever you would like. Any reason you don't just do that and have a constant flow of junk traffic? You can even setup 'special hourly forces' for specific times of the day.

I agree no reaons to dilute your traffic if your leads are legit and promotional methods are approved.
