I finally signed up for a plan the other day. I'm an Oxylabs user and I usually love Oxylabs, but the other day I went over my bandwidth and they just shut me down, rather than let me go over and just charge me (Oxylabs, not Soax). Anyhow, this inspired me to purchase a plan via Soax, since I did the $1 trial in the past the IPs were good.

Soax Review. I wasn't offered anything or given any deal to write this review. I bought the service at full price and didn't tell them I was a BHW member. These are my honest opinions.

Pros:

• Super easy signup and activation. I was up and running in minutes.
• Helpful support. The person I chatted with (Ekaterina??) was very happy to answer questions and helped me learn how to set session time.
• ISP level resolution. I need to stay away from Cogent communications IPs as they can trigger checkpoints when using with FB, so being able to use the ISP of my choice is really awesome.
• Relatively easy to use. If you're familiar with using the username of the proxy to set the country/city/isp parameters, you will be able to use Soax without any issues.
• The DNS resolves correctly and will not trigger checkpoints. Other residential IP providers, who shall go unnamed, do not have set their DNS to resolve properly, which will for sure make you hit checkpoints. (**When purchasing residential proxies, always check the DNS resolution because if your IP is in the USA and the DNS is resolving to Germany, it's gonna be a bad day for you.)

Cons:

• You MUST whitelist IPs. I don't like this because you might have a team of people using anti-detect tools and the base plan only comes with 3 IPs available for whitelist. This gave me some issues in the beginning but it is what it is. Other residential IP providers simply allow for user/pass authentication, which is preferable to me.
• It feels a little shaky sometimes, like when you set certain params, they don't take effect right away or the rotation interval feels off. Not sure if it's just me timing out activity, causing the IP to release, but it felt like I should still have kept the same IP a few times. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.

Summary:

Soax is really on par with some of the big name residential IP providers. I doubt their IP pool is as massive as the big dogs (like Oxylabs, Luminati, etc), but they have IPs in smaller cities which says a lot. I suppose it's possible they are leasing bandwidth from some of the larger companies, but if they are it doesn't matter. Soax's value prop is that they do not require a larger bandwidth commitment and they have low pricing. You can get the cheapest plan for $75 ($15/gb), but with other providers you have to commit to at least $300 per month to get that pricing.

The speed of the IPs was workable (same as other providers) and they had all the locations I needed in the USA. I felt safe using them on my important social media ad accounts that I don't take risks with. Also, the signup process was quick and easy. I didn't have to sign any contracts, chat with a sales rep, submit documents for KYC stuff, etc.

I got my issues with Oxylabs sorted after about 12 hours, but Soax saved the day in this case. I'll continue to use Soax alongside Oxylabs so that I have backup just in case something goes wrong with either provider
