People leave SEO left and right

moving to crypto space...
Do they finally realize that we are all google/ebay/amazon slaves and cryptocurrencies is the only way out?
SEO comes with so much headache these days to the point that it gets tiring. It's even worse if you have a low budget.

@IamNRE moved to trading stocks so Crypto isn't the only way it seems.

The professions are always open out there, you can choose the one that works for you the best.
With SEO, Google can destroy you.
With crypto, banks and regulators can destroy you.
With stocks, fund managers can destroy you.

There will always be some guys at the top messing with you and you will always need to figure out ways to fight back.
Change professions to find new pathways and interesting businesses, not to run away from the bad guys.

I don't see the logic behind investing time and effort into white hat SEO.
you can spend your entire life to build your SERP positions and get wiped out from SERPs in a blink of an eye by Google
I think that there is no such thing as White hat SEO. It is all meant to game the system.

Yes, it all comes down to using your brain.
People say that SEO become harder but there are still others who cash big on that.
People rush to cryptos too, but there are already others who run away from it because of bad money management.

I've transitioned away from SEO myself. I do still have a few projects that I'll optimize and build, but social media and viral marketing is just so much easier. AI/algorithms are only going to keep getting better, until you get snuffed out in the search engines. You are not, and will never be smarter than the conglomerate that is Google. You can slip through the cracks, but eventually they will be sealed.

Manipulating people on various social media platforms wont really change. People will always be people, easily influenced and manipulated. My ROI with social media is basically near instant. Traffic on demand without having to spend on ads.

Yeah but organic reach is declining a lot in social medias... so it becomes a lot more pay to play... SEO is search oriented, it makes it a lot more powerful... people actually search for things and find your site, talk about targeted traffic... social will never have this power. Don't say it's not good, in fact I am a fan of fb ads, but SEO is still the most targeted traffic you can bring, with the usage of keywords... people don't search for things on social the same way, they are not in a buying mode.

I'm not talking about organic search in social media, and I'm not talking about ads. Infiltrating groups and communities with "real" people to influence others in real time. I've been contracted for almost the past 2 years to do this on a large scale across multiple platforms. The results are stupid effective.

I still have websites that get 10's, some 100's of thousands of visitors a month from organic search. I know how valuable organic search is. I can also just create a new website for a product, consulting, etc, and start getting sales within a couple days of creation. All while having "social proof" for others to slurp up. Manipulating people is far quicker/easier than manipulating SE's.
