Hi, I wanted to know if the penguin algorithmic update is able to distinguish whether a site is an eCommerce or not? the reason I am asking this is one of sites hit was an eCommerce site.. What I sell is called beats (also know as instrumentals). I have the same description for all my music items but I don't know if google is counting this against me or not. I think google might have thought I was trying to over optimize for the keyword "beats" since its all over my site like the categories are named "Pop Beats", "Hip Hop Beats, etc..

I know its to early to get a real answer to this question, but maybe someone can clarify?

Get a Robot crawl on any of your page. Search in google if you don't know what I am talking about.

Copy paste the content you get in your software which checks keyword density. If you think it is too much, then yes it could be it.

Or else go out and install Website Auditor and using beats analyze your keyword density and other factors with currently ranking top 10 result. If your density is too much compared to your competition, then yes take some action to reduce your density. Better to test your own market then depending on the perfect answer from all these forums.
