Ironically my parasite pages are ranking well. A lot of my legitimate hard work has gone to sh*t. I really do hate you sometimes Google. It seems that all we need is 1 bad link and we are in the sh*t.

True, I still stick with my point (that I don't like PBN's) and here's why.

The PBN's that I (mostly) see, are purely built for passing linkjuice. They have no user-flow whatsoever thus the visitor will most likely not enjoy the site. This will cause high bounce rates and other things, which are VERY important nowadays when it comes to ranking (on the long term), at least from my experience.

When a PBN is treated like a money-site, where everything is 100% optimized they might do well because the visitor might actually like the site, share some stuff, etc. etc. Things that a natural site needs to rank.

But what's the point of treating PBN's like money-sites? I mean it'd probably won't be worth the effort, money and time spent to create such a blog. It'd be wiser (and cheaper in all aspects) in my opinion to just focus on your money site and gain natural links/signals that way. From a user side of things, I always disliked PBN's and it should be clear by now why that's so. If we look at it regarding linkjuice, okay... They worked and the good ones will keep working for a while. But if Google spots that the visitors aren't reacting (sharing) to the content, it'll go downwards fast, as we all see now - with some exceptions here and there.

I get a strong feeling that PBN related sites are being hit hard, because Google spends more and more time trying to monitor what the visitor is doing, which is smart of course. Just because a site has some powerful backlinks from a PBN or whatever else, doesn't mean visitors will like the content and how they can 'flow' through the site.

You hit the nail on the head. Google's stock got smacked hard this week because they missed profit estimates. When that happens, it's time to throw a "quality" algorithm update out there to collect even more money while webmasters are busy trying to assess the damage. See http://data.cnbc.com/quotes/GOOGL

People with Adwords should shut off their campaigns in a protest to the monopolistic business practices of Google. Anyway, with serps like I am seeing now I bet the roi on paid ads sucks.

Google f*cked almost every site. No matter either it's whitehat or blackhat.
Here is another kicker, I had a test site for keywords with pretty much 0 competition (we talking about 4 results what you put the keyword in quotes), it was ranking on the 1st, then dropped with previous penguin update, so I disavowed EVERY link and just let it sit (even without links it should of ranked). Before this update it was on page 6-7, after this update, nowhere. So, Google Disavow tool is bs.

You should've let it rest and check what would've happened. Reacting to updates is basically admitting you did something wrong, and you want to fix it quick. Of course I'm not sure since so many different sites got hit, with many different patterns.

But if I was in control of this part at Google, I'd surely check out those who took immediate action after their site dropped (panic reaction).

why did you waste your time on disavow??? let google figure for themselves what they did wrong. Let them waste their own money to figure it.

There was no panic reaction. Like i said that site dropped with last penguin update which was an year ago, so about 2 months ago when rumors started spreading about 3.0 update i decided it would be a good idea to test and disavow all the links to see if it'll help, since according to Google by doing this it will look like the site has 0 links. Well, looks like after this update it just made shit worse, so disavowing the links dont do sh*t

This update obviously isn't targeting any certain type of link. I've talked to people who use the same TYPES of links and one gained 15% and one lost 98%. The things I've noticed is that it seems to be a LOT of affiliate type sites that have been hit. So what happens may be effected by what NICHE your site is in. Also if you're running Adsense, or obvious affiliate linking, or if you're Wordpress. I am seeing a pattern emerge and it isn't all about off-site linking. It's about what your site was and what it's niche was too.

I see, read your post to quick. Either way disavowing links makes it harder for all of us, besides yourself. Good luck with getting back up!
