My site got hit by penguin 2.1 at that moment my site was having around 3k of backlinks now today when i check i saw its drop to 1.4k backlinks. Is it good for site or bad? I m not doing any backlinking just posting fresh content every week. So far i dont see any ranking back.

Can any body help me with this mess.

There are two possible reasons why your backlinks reduced:

    1. You built many spammy backlinks and the owners of the sites where the links were placed have been removing them over time.
    2. Most of your backlinks are sitewide links from one linking root domain and the link has been deleted.

A reduction in the number of backlinks your site has is disadvantageous for ranking unless they are spammy backlinks, in which case it would be favourable.

If it is at all feasible I would just move over the content to a new domain and start over rather than waiting for the penalty to lift. Perhaps some people have gotten their sites to start ranking again after some time, but personally I haven't had any such luck...
