After the Penguin 2.1 update, my site has tanked in rankings.

Just a quick question, will I be allowed a fresh start if I just change my hosting info onto a new site? That is, change the name servers?

    Edit*

Seems to be confusion regarding this. What I meant is: say I have 2 domain names, 1 penalized, 1 never used. I have hosting with Godaddy - can I just use the nameservers of the host on the never used site and this will allow me to start fresh? Keep in mind it will be the exact same content.

Also - a question regarding 301 redirects. Can anyone link me how to do this, and also will I have to keep the site hosted?

this has nothing to do with hosting.once penalized is hard to get it back, is not worth the time and money.if u are happy with your host just start another project.do same things to get ranked as u did with penalized site.black or white hat sites got hit.

Changing name servers won't do any good. Your best bet will be to start new and 301 redirect your penalized site to your new one.

Change the domain (website) start fresh from the scratch.
And I think this will be a routine thing after every update for every one.
I have been doing this same thing ever since Panda rolled out. LOL.

Yes, I mean do I just use a new domain name, but can my content be the exact same as the old site?

Clone the old site onto the new one
    Then do a 301 Redirect

simple way in your cpanel scroll down till you see redirects
then pull up the name of the penalized site
and put the name of the new one in the next box

You can also do it with htaccess
    Google it
    Plenty of tutorials out there
