Hi, I'm in a tricky situation.

Bought a domain, built a website on it, found out it it is deintexed for pure spam. Submitted a reconsideration request (I don't have high hopes here).

Then I bought a second domain, copied my site over and thought that I'll be fine...

And now I found out this:

    Source:
    Code:
     http://www.seroundtable.com/google-penalty-site-move-18163.html
I didn't earn the original penalty and got unlucky there (domain had only backlinks from 3 other domains).

Did I just get fk-ed by the system here? If the site standing on the penalized domain is identical to the site on my new domain, I will hit the double jackpot? :D

    What's my play?

As long as your current site is not indexed this doesn't apply.

What you said is quite clear to me, but I'll ask for clarification just in case... Playing around in webmaster tools and sending google to crawl won't affect it in any way? I could take the site down, if it's dangerous to keep it up, but I have some target traffic going in and I'd like to keep it up (or I can just yolo it). Nobody, but google knows the truth, so it's hard to tell... But it's great to learn from other people's experiences, I appreciate every piece of information I can get.

    Thank you.

If the domain really is penalized you should just drop it and redirect your traffic to your new domain.

Pure spam manual action was already on it from day 1, I couldn't figure out why my site wouldn't get indexed and that's when I found it.

It's short lived traffic, so I don't really need to worry about redirecting it for the long run (it will die soon anyway).

The question here is... won't google play some trick and pass on penalty to the domain that hosts copied site that I launched on a penalized domain (referring to the information in OP)?

I don't care what happenens to penalized domain, I just don't want to mess up the new domain that I just bought and copied my site over to.

The reason to keep it up right now is because it's getting some targeted traffic from a very specific source that can convert and I don't want to lose those leads.

    Site A:
    Pure spam penalty, deindexed

    Site B:
Clean domain, content of site A

Will it penalty carry over from A to B just because of the same content ("bad site move")?

I've had a similar situation and the penalty did not follow me to the fresh site. I was wondering why my site was not indexing as I always index in under an hour or so and low and behold I had bought a site with spam as backlinks.

Bought a fresh domain, moved everything over and BAM! indexed fast and fine and off to the races.
