Hi all - I am just starting to build a PBN & I have just found a pretty good domain for sale but it is not so relevant for my site

    So do I :

    a) buy it & give it relevant content despite it's domain name and incoming link text
    b) buy it & make it relevant to what it was originally so it ranks higher in accordance with its incoming links
    c) don't buy it & only go for very relevant domains to my money site
    d) buy the thing & do a 301 redirect

    Thoughts please

    Thanks

Hi! If you're going to buy it, the logical thing to do is to feed it with content that is relevant to what it originally was. It won't make sense if the domain has relevance to cats but you're going to feed it with content that has something to do with shoes. If I were you, I would only buy it if I have an extra budget for that domain. My 2 cents.

IMO, domain name doesn’t need to be relevant to your niche a long as your content is relevant to your money site.

No, what i would look for (before to buy), is the historic back-links of the sites. It's not an easy task to do a deep analysis, use ahrefs, majestic and so on. Do not abuse of 301 redirect, keep in mind that it's more effective a contextual link (the natural way).

If the domain is clean then I wouldn't worry about it not having a relevant domain name.

These days you are far better off creating a site around the domain and then linking back to your site as opposed to 301ing it. The only time I would 301 these days is if you are buying a domain with lots of traffic and you want to be gaining that traffic. 301ing for SEO purposes is not really the most effective route these days.

I think it will work regardless of domain name, but a relevant domain would be better.

Its not a matter. But in case of your SEO, domain name as the main keyword or your niche is also better. Or otherwise try to redirect to your money site with 301 redirect which is better I think.
