If you had a local business, and wanted to have fast, great and long term rankings, would you go the quality PBN way, or only do Outreach? Or what other methods are out there?

(Please don't say citations, already know that)

It doesn't have to be either/or. Outreach may take some time, so if you want to build links fast, PBN helps with that. Just keep sending pitches.

PBN is the fast risky lane.
Outreach is the slow high rewarding lane.

    Fast - > PBNs
    Slow - > Outrach

PBNs - > a bit risky if you're doing this for a local brand
Outreach - > Slow to take off, but once it ranks, it will be more stable

So then how about this method.

Buy high quality strong PBN links, after a year of good ranking and money coming in, use outreach from then on and disvow PBN links if necessary.

In my opinion, you should do both; but make sure your PBN is of the highest quality.
This will give you a good improvement in the rankings and your back-link will be diversified.
Back-links from manually outreached guest posts will be stable for long-term and the PBN links will push it further.

    Quality matters here!

Since it only takes one Google update to cripple most (not all) types of PBNs (especially those that use dropped domains), my bet is on OUTREACH

    Build real relationships

    Build brands together

A mix up of Niche relevant PBN's and Guest posts will help to diversify your link profile and helps to improve the SERP.

PBN is a good effective way to reach the rank faster. High-quality PBN links still giving the best output. Outreach is very good, If you have clear knowledge about choosing it.

Why not go with both the things. Just make sure you are using the services safely. Apart from this, you can go for other sources of link building and marketing.

Both. If you can't do both, then PBNs and then outreach when the PBN's have covered the costs of an outreach

Outreach has more long term stability. PBNs appear to be the short term fix

I think the answer is a no brainier. If you enjoy getting kicked and 8!T<H slapped GO HARD on private blog networks, eventually Google will find your site and put it out on the firing range, see here: http://searchengineland.com/googles-matt-cutts-weve-taken-action-large-guest-blog-network-187028 And if you have any ruthless competitors :cool::confused::eek:o_O that hate you they will talk about you like this in the Google forums: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/ZOwlxtdkoNM So if you want to use private blog networks you better use a provider that really knows what they are doing!

Personally I don't use private blog networks, I build links the old fashion way like my buddy Eric Ward, he's been building links since 1994 here is his site: ericward.com

Now if you were my client, I would get top tier news and blog sites to write full feature articles about your company and link back to your website. I'm talking about sits like Forbes, CNN, NY Times and others. Not only will you get your golden links, but you'll also generate TONs of referral traffic from these sites because real people are reading these articles and this referral traffic can generate leads which turns into conversions and you know that conversions turn into cash. At the end of the day, I guess you have to decide if getting on the first page of Google is more important then generating real human visitors to your website that convert... Here is a list of the types of sites I secure editorial placement on: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lPSqgLB2dINtEweZ4UGbSvlldYz5UiqpuujhC6lmEzc/edit?usp=sharing Good luck buddy :)

Mate I was using those sites as an example, you would get traffic, it may just not be relevant. Obviously your ideal sites would be local sites within your area. For example, if your business was in LA you would want to be featured in the Los Angeles Times, it makes perfect sense. You have to stop looking at the single redwood tree and rise up to see the entire Forrest (big picture)

I'll break it down for you... Whatever local city your business is physically located in, you want to be editorially featured in all the top media publications within that area. Real people engage on these sites and you will be creating tons of awareness about your brand. These principles have existed before the internet....
