Hey guys, i'm looking for some cheap hosting for a private blog network, can anyone recommend a bunch of reliable hosts? I've been searching for the past few days on webhostingtalk and at least half of the hosts offering $1/mo or less are no longer working. And i don't want to set up my network and in 2-3 months, have to change host again. so conditions would be:
    - $1 (maybe $1.5) per month or less
    - reliable (great uptime and long time in the hosting biz, i don't want to host with a company that can disappear overnight)
    - small space and bandwidth (500mb would be pretty fine and 10-20gb of traffic)

If you are looking for multiple hosts then just be organized and expect to change hosts. I have been using about 60 different Companies at the moment and I sometimes have to switch hosts. Just stay organized, keep frequent backups. I have someone that works for cheap for me that does all the backups for me every 2 weeks.

Looking for reliability for $1.00 a month is hard in terms of web hosting. If you are buying multiple accounts with Multiple Companies then your expectations are high. :)

um, yea, you're totally right, i can't expect reliability from multiple companies so i guess there's no way to go around this, just do backups and pray...
right now i have my network on a single host using different c-class ips for each website, i'm paying $1 per ip per month. i was thinking about switching to multiple hosts because i would then get a totally different ip, not only the c-class.
what do you guys think, is that a good idea or should i stick to my server and different c-class ip's ?

I personally prefer using different webhosts, I write down the IP of all my sites. You are then also diversifying data centers, Locations and IP's. Depends how serious you are about it.

that's the reason i was thinking to use multiple hosts - diversifying data centers, locations and ip's.
do you use cheap hosts ($1 or so) or something more expensive?

Varies from $1 - $4, probably averages out to about $2 - $2.50 per site.

I am fine with that though :p

Avoid the SEO hosting like plague. There are actually a few reliable cheap $1 hosting, simply Google it. Servinor is one good one.

Get hosting from Hostnine. They've got a reseller package that lets you choose between different parts of the world so you get unique A class IPs. It's onyl 25$ or so but you can host a ton of sites on it.

They don't charge per IP. Get a reseller and use as many of their IPs as you want as you can set the location of your servers from around the world.
