Someone got access to my Paypal and did a big transaction, hopefully it is under control. I changed my Paypal and email password but now am wondering how they got in.

I did a scan with both eset and malwarebytes and it is clean. Is this enough or do I manually have to check for it? Or is there another scanner for this?

I have been looking online but see so may different answers and this is beyond my knowledge.

If someone can tell me best way it would be much appreciated!

run a scan with malwarebytes in safe mode, you can give a go to hitman pro too, if those don't find anything, you can assume you're safe, however if you have doubt, the best solution is to reformat the drive

IF your personal pc is the only machine you are connecting at paypal do a malware search and you will be fine.
Also as extra measure i never keep big amounts of money at paypal

generally a good idea, but not always enough
most of the time, if you have a legit paypal account, you have your bank account and credit card linked too, so the phisher can buy anything or even top up the account instantly (it's a rather new feature and it is a security risk, being able to do everything instantly sometimes isn't that good :)), so when you notice, your money is long gone

or link only a secondary bank account/CC where you don't keep much money

Yes they were transferring funds from my bank to my paypal. 5 day hold. But still it is unsettling!

If this happened to me and I couldnt find anything I would backup important stuff, then wipe and reinstall OS. Thats a pretty serious breach.

Look into a software called sandboxie. I run everything in sandboxie from my browser to zennoposter. I never have any issues with bad downloads because i can just delete the contents of the sandbox and nothing ever leaks into windows.

I also use virtual machines to further protect me, but I built my computer and it can handle running 3 operating systems at the same time. I know this is not possible for everyone.

    Hope you get it sorted.

And what has this to do with blackhat SEO? I wish the mods were a bit stricter with people just dumping their topics everywhere

I tried looking for a more suitable sub to put it in but couldn't find one. Now looking I guess I could have put it in Business and Tax Advice.

If something like this bothers you that much you need to get a life.

Also possible that a site that you registered with the same email and password got hacked and the db got leaked. Happened to me a few times so I never use the same password as my financial accounts.

This seems like the most logical explanation. Now I know why people use different passwords for different sites!

    Malware bytes usually detects nothing.

    Try what these guys said:

    Spybot S&D
    Hitman Pro (is great)
    Adware Cleaner
    Anti-virus scan
    Panda Active Cloud Cleaner

I'd backup and reformat if it were me
