I was working with a new client that was delivering intagingible services for my business. At first, everything was fine. I was sending payments via PayPal as a service or product for a few days when he had stated he was having issues with his PayPal account (European) and asked if I would send future payments via friends and family until he got it sorted out. Long story short, the payments via friends and family which were to be completed never were and im out over $1600 USD. Phone calls to PayPal end the same way. "We're sorry, because you sent via friends and family we are unable to open a dispute even if we wanted to. We suggest taking legal action in your country or file a claim with the authorities." I have enough evidence that if it were to be raised to a claim, I would win without questions. Including conversations of hin laughing and admitting to have scammed me. This is obviously my fault for being an idiot. I never knew PayPals "Friends and Family" meant you're basically sending via Bitcoin or Western Union. I simply sent the cash thiking I could dispute later if needed as I always have. Cuasing me to be waaaay too trusting with my cash. Has anyone ever had any luck getting their friends and family payment raised to a claim? Any advice other than to be less of an idiot next time? Thanks for the help.
