So I've been doing business on my paypal account since 2002. I have it verified up the wazoo! I've been doing business online selling a digital download and using paypal as my payment processor. My sales averaged 300-600day in profit to me. Well paypal decided to end it all today! I average about 125 sales a week. Out of those 125 sales, I generally get about 10 disputes. Apparently paypal isn't aware that digital downloads have a higher dispute rate than normal. But they dont give a shit! I think only 10 refunds out of 125 sales is a pretty DAMN good ratio! But sucks for me, now my business is shutdown, I'm losing money everyday. They said my dispute rate is too high for them, and it has to be less than 2% and 8% is too high. Due to this they will not be reopenng my account. Thank you paypal, for leaving me out in the cold.

Sorry to hear that =/.Screw you paypal but i still use it lol

Just get another service like: alertpay or Google checkout.

you can use my paypal ill take a small kickback of course i hve a debit card to it so i can Wu the money to you daily if need be....just an idea
but i think you would be ok to over at alert..pay you can sell what ever you want there
and they are based outside the us so as long as they are getting their fees they dont give a shit about anything..good luck

Sorry to hear. Check out paypalsucks*com you might find a way to get your money back if it was a large amount. If it wasn't then you might be SOL :(

PayPal is a nightmare to deal with; they freeze accounts regularly and then its hellish trying to get to re-access the accounts. I would never depend my business on PayPal payments - have had too many headaches with them. They go overboard on security and are paranoid about fraudulent transactions.

I read recently that they are also implementing credit checks for Business/Premier accounts now. You "agree" to it under the new terms of service.

I also just got pumped by PP, I sold a guy a site for $400, after he paid and got the login details, he downloaded all the files and then filed and unauthorized use claim. I did send paypal all the information to support he bought it, So we will see the outcome. It is very risky selling digital goods anymore.

Makes flipping sites hardley not worth it. Paypal is like any other, they do it because they can.

Yup lost over a grand with them before. They canceled the account under suspicion of money laundering! Err no, popular site -> digital downloads!

Sorry to hear your story. I, too, am pissed with Paypal. I have an ongoing dispute with delivery of digital item (i.e. pva). From what I gather from everyone, digital items/non-tangible items are not covered in Paypal's Seller Protection Policy.

It has been 9 days since my customer did a chargeback on the accounts. Paypal has not come to a decision yet. Will update you when I hear from them.

I do agree with your thread...Paypal really sucks!

You're gonna lose. There's no way on earth (that I know of) that a seller can win a digital dispute. Not emails, not screenshots, nothing. FUCK Paypal

Same thing happened to my brother josh for $600. He flipped a site, buyer paid, logged in, removed him as an author, then filed an unauthorized use paypal claim. I hope they rot in hell! Sorry for your situation bro.

There has to be another way to sell digital goods with out going through paypal or clickbank. Google Checkout looks promising, but I only need/want so much Google in my life.

Yea, I believe in Karma. Dude was pretty stupid though because he paid with his real paypal and I have all his damn information, I even called the SOB and told him, backbacks are a bitch little guy...lol

Gaypal is not a Banking institution, so they are not governed by the same laws as a bank, and can freeze your account for pretty much anything they want to.

Meanwhile the money you have in it, sits in THEIR Bank accounts and gains interest for them. I personally believe this is their main motivation to freezing peoples accounts, to keep the money there longer, especially if your the type that withdraws every penny you receive. Read the TOS , there's some interesting stuff in there the last time I read it.

They've been screwin' merchants for YEARS. Like the guy said above, paypalsucks(DOT)com has lots of other people in the same boat as you.

1st rule of Gaypal, never Leave money in your account, transfer it to your bank as soon as you get it lol.

The bigger Problem is, you agree to all this BS when you accept their TOS, so best way to fight them would be to STOP using them. But most people will continue to use them, as they believe that paypal is The END ALL to Internet Financial Protection.

Sheeple will do anything you tell them to, if you tell them with a smile :)

just my cents

Well if the amount is worth it you can always put the goods on a dvd or something, and then sent it verified mail, where they have to sign for it, then they dont have a case.

And like the above poster said, Never leave money in the account. I have a PP debit card so as soon as I get paid, I go take it out, My case was dude paid on 11:30 at night and by the next morning the case was opened. I woke up and was going to go get the funds when I seen the email.

Sellers can and usually do win digital disputes. What sellers can not win is unauthroised payment claims and credit card chargebacks. advancedfuture, you may want to look at plimus, I believe they offer better security (I assume so) and people can still pay via paypal and other ways. Alertpay and many other options that are listed on various sites aren't available to everyone. Remember, we don't all live in the USA or countries that are supported by the very select few other options besides paypal. Also, if you withdraw money and someone does a claim and they win then your account is in the negative. Paypal won't just forget this. So the withdraw your money ASAP isn't exactly that simple. Of course this depends on which country you live in and what kind of information you provided Paypal with when joining up. I believe they will come after you for the money if it is a large enough chunk, probably via debt collectors.
