http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/stor...buyer-destroy-2500-antique-violin?ref=secitem When is the world going to stop using paypal? this is insane
That sucks massively. Paypal have grown to be far too powerful. But the problem we face now is trying to find an alternative that everyone uses. Its all good saying "all use moneybookers" but when hardly anyone is using them compared to paypals 210 million + accounts, it seems like a useless quest to even try.
What do you mean its not paypals fault? They told the buyer to destroy the violin before they could issue a refund for a (counterfeit) violin even though apparently there is no such thing in the violin world.
Dwolla is a new up and coming payment transfer system, and the costs are a lot lower too so hopefully they start to scare paypal into lowering their costs or something because they are just legally stealing from people
Yeah, pretty disgusting. Also saw it on Reddit, so hopefully it makes the news. In my eyes, It's not the fact that it was so expensive that makes it bad but the fact it's a antique that made it through WW2. Real history. Smashed by some....
I stopped using paypal a long time ago, I have managed although sometimes I am forced to use them to buy different services, thank god they have an option to pay without a paypal account!
Its not paypal's fault its the buyers. If the buyer had doubts it was real, she should have gone to a music store that specializes in antiques to see if it is real. And if they couldn't have done it, they would have most likely given her the number of a person that can.
moneybookers is good but has been around for ages. Ebay forced almost all their Users to use PP. Everyone knows about PP and as long as the buyer does not have to pay the Fees, People will keep using it. Paypal and Ebay is Scam. Hope these News go around the World. Companies have to stop using Paypal to force buyers to look for an alternative. But nobody wants to lose a Customer, so Companies will stay with PP....
It seems like the violin buyer RIPPED the seller off and got away with online murder. Call me a skeptic but I highly doubt the buyer actually destroyed that violin. That PIC is most likely Photoshopped to the hilt! :madfawk: This may amount to pure conjecture on my part but I believe the buyer bought that violin knowing the PP system would rule on his behalf in a dispute. No one bids on or purchases such items without knowing the nuances associated with such a purchase. Put it like this, would you purchase Morpheme by Natural Motion even though you are not a game developer? Hell NO!!!! :yikes: And neither would a person pay $2500 or more for a violin unless they understand violins; unless they are flat out unintelligent. The seller should have handled such a transaction through escrow or through a reputable auction house. This was a dumb move on the sellers part, really dumb.
Just another long line of horrible stories about PayPal and Ebay. Both of these companies have become ridiculous over the years. It should be criminal, but they cover their a$$es in the terms of service that you agree to when signing up to use their services. My advice to anyone is to stay as far away from either company as possible. I know that paypal has us by the ***** sometimes. However, try to use whenever you can.
wow this its just shocking men paypal its taking control of everything now. "Payal may also require you to destroy the item and to provide evidence of its destruction" WTF BRO !!!!!
And this is exactly why i never keep more than a few hundred dollars in my paypal account. I would never have left $2500 in my account, if paypal wanted to try to fuck with me they can refund the $2500 on there own dime. Ebay and paypal both have gotten so over powerful and heavy handed over the years, its like dealing with the god damn government. Even for buying I now use Amazon if at all possible, ebay is my last resort.
Why is everyone blaming Paypal for this incident, when the person should have had it verified to see if its what it was what the seller said it was. And if not they could have sued the seller for fraud.
