So my PayPal account has been limited due to the EU regulations and because I'd received more than 2500? in the past 12 months or something like that. I've sent them a scan of my ID card, my driving license and my bank statement which clearly shows my address. Hopefully everything will be in order. My question is - how long does it take in order to lift up these limitations?

Don't worry that's normal, once they lift the limitation you will be fine. It takes a day or 2

Thanks man, you made my day, cus I've read some doom-like stories where the users had their funds hold for 6 months or so.

Like Skyrocket said it usually takes around a day or two.

It is different being limited due to reaching your limits as opposed to being limited and holding your funds for 180 days. You get a different message when your account has been totally limited.

EU regulations are saying that you can't receive more than 2.5k EURO in a period of 3 months (starting from the first transaction). So even if they'll lift your limit you'll be under this regulation 100%. Is the same with WesternUnion and other money transfers that are working under the EU regulation - they're saying that is money-laundering protection

It's anti-laundering law and they requre you to confirm identity, but once the limits get lifted, you'll never be asked again.

BTW - Do you think they share my private information with my country's tax authority? Since this is basically still a beer money and I don't trouble about declaring it..

You should know that even after you got your limits lifted - may occur restriction of the transfer - it happened and you'll face it if you pass 2.500 EURO transaction in more than 3 months. Only if you make your account merchant you'll not face this problem. But if the account will remain as simple - you'll see

If your country tax authority will ask PayPal for the list of your transaction they'll offer all of them. If you are under the VAT regulation PayPal will offer directly the information to your country tax authority

Why and when can something like this occur?
