So im under 18 and ive been selling on ebay and apparently i sold 200 items because now paypal wants my SSN, but if i give it to them they will realize im 18 (right?) and then suspend my account. I have $200 in there that is pending (not available yet from ebay) its only been asking for it like 3 days, will that money become avaliable to me before i provide my SSN, and if not and i do provide my SSN how long will it be before paypal realizes im under 18?

You're kind of stuck, and will have to wait until you turn 18 to supply the SSN, then hope the system accepts that you are a legal adult and doesn't suspend. It would have been better to have set up at least one secondary account beforehand, with an adult friend or relative's info, or a well set-up faux/stealth account to avoid this issue.

I had a similar issue arise when I running my own eBay business about 2 years back. Quoted above is a portion of the IRS code that relates directly to your situation with paypal.

PayPal essentially asks you for your social security number when you breach any ONE of these criteria even though they only NEED it once you pass both. In my case, I had cleared maybe $15,000 in payments for that calendar year and so by slowing down my sales I was able to get through the calendar year without any issues.

The system will still keep prompting you for your social but you shouldn't have any issues with the account being limited or anything of that nature until you reach both of those criteria so you should keep a close eye on the situation.

    Good luck!

Since you are underage the best thing to do is spread out all of your selling with different stealth accounts so you never
actually get asked to supply and SSN number. If you do not want to take a risk you need to wait and then supply the number.
