    Hey guys,

Somebody scammed me yesterday for some 600$ and my paypal is now -570$. I don't have that money with me now. And its my real account, what should I do? Just leave it as it is...hoping that paypal wont do anything to me..money extortionist or anything. Or should I just arrange for funds to put there?

As its my real account with real address n stuff...i'm kinda worried.

They will close your account and send a debt collector after you if you don't put the money in. Sorry man.

That also happened to me when I bought a lot of stuff by Paypal and didn't have the funds available in my bank to send to Paypal because a Clickbank cheque took a month to clear.

Paypal kept trying to get the funds from my bank account every few days but couldn't get it because the money wasn't available. Cost me a lot in bank charges too.

Paypal didn't hassle me about it but luckily I had a family member with a credit card to pay the negative balance off a few days later until things got sorted.

Like mentioned above, they will close the account, and send a debt collector. But other than that they won't do jack.

I know people that owe tens of thousands to paypal and they haven't done jack about it.

okay, seems I have to arrange funds to clear the debt. They arent leaving me without it.
Though my bank has some money in it, but they cant transfer from there, as its not allowed in India.
But any idea, how long will they take to get to me?

@Dan: Somebody bought VCCs and did a chargeback. :( And paypal favours buyers now days.

They will send multiple collections agencies, but from what I have read they cannot win in court so as long as your say the debt is invalid they cant do anything.

Man this same thing happened to me. And I called PayPal and no matter how hard a tried to convince them of what happened, they wouldn't take my side. Luckily I had some money to cover the charges in my account.

I had the same thing happen yesterday, i noticed it today....I filed a charge dispute and called them they are reversing it. They just put your account on hold.

Out of all of the people that answered to this person is there really a need in telling them oh they are going to send a debt collector? Seriously guys!!! It would be a month or 2 before they went through all of that even if they bothered doing that.....Make sure you have some experience with a topic before you go and start freaking people out!

Yes I had money in my bank account. What i was saying is that the individual needs to file a charge dispute. there have been times where i did not have money in one of my accounts and they were trying to take money from it... I called paypal and my bank to notify them of the problem. they put it all on hold then as well.

IMO Paypal is one of the most exploitable payment gateways on the internet. Its really scary to think sellers/buyers are in as much jeopardy as they are.

I agree it is def exploitable....for buyers and sellers. That is why i am getting the security key so that no more transactions can be made unless the key is used.

If you make a lot of money and you need that paypal to continue on making money, I'd just pay it. I've paid amounts like that before on various PP BS.

How do you get scammed? How can you send more money through paypal than what you have there?

i dont have that much money with me and i dont have those big businesses running to cover it. Well, i would wanna forget about the account.

@lifemake$: should i also file a dispute? Tell them that I did a service for this guy (for which i cannot give any proof) and he charged back after that? WIll that work?

    I'm surprised at this.

I was scammed as a buyer, and didnt receive what I had pais for. I put a dispute into paypal and as the person who owed me money only had about $200 in their account, thats all i got. I am still owed about $1700 and will NEVER get it according to Paypal.

They give you 60 days before arranging a debt collector, just so you know.

not to mention there's alot of phishing around paypal.. my paypal account got hacked and someone made a purchase using my paypal account 2 times for total of $700 ($350 each).. I then called paypal explaining the situation and they forward it to their investigation team.. luckily, after two days the investigation team saw unusual activity and credit my money back..
