Apparently PayPal is double charging customers at the ATM when you use their debit card. I went to withdraw a couple hundred dollars yesterday and then checked my balance to see that they had deducted about $500 from my balance. After a short phone call I was informed that they were in fact aware of the issue and it was "just a glitch". I was told that I would be "put in line to have it fixed". 24 hours later, no fix. Called them back today and was transferred to debit department. 15 minutes later and I'm still on hold as I write this. Seems like a pretty big issue and I know if they were giving away extra money (instead of taking it) at the ATM, this would have been fixed in minutes. Very aggravating, and apparently it is affecting a lot of people. I'm just writing this to give everyone a heads up and also to get the word out and maybe light a fire under their ass to get this fixed if enough people share it. In the meantime, I'm still on hold (20 minutes now) but will update this when they decide to answer their phones. UPDATE: It gets better. After an hour on the phone I finally got someone from the debit department to look into it and guess what? They found multiple smaller double charges I wasn't even aware of for amounts in the range of $10 to $30 for debit purchases. Wonderful, they've been stealing from me for a while now. She informed me that they are issuing me "provisional credits to my account" until the issue is fixed. funny thing is, I'm looking at my balance now and see they have credited me the smaller debits but not the $250 atm overcharge. Wonderful. Guess I'll be back on the phone for some more fun. I would strongly advise anyone using paypal debit regularly to do an audit and see how much money they have pocketed from you, because if you dont find it yourself, its unlikely they will be giving it back any time soon. I will keep this updated in the meantime.
