I'm wondering as a friend of mine got scammed and needs to ask for a refund for about 50 transactions.

Never heard of a paypal account getting limited by asking for "too" many chargebacks/refunds. Though, wondering if any of you guys know. :D

Yes. All credit card processors have the ability to blacklist an account due to excessive chargebacks. It's really not a decision by the credit card processors, it's mandated by the card brands. Businesses can literally be blacklisted by the major card brands so that no matter which processor you go to, you'll fail the underwriting review.

Just a hypothetical here, but if this is all with one company and the payments were made close together, do you think that it would just be lumped into one charge back?

Yes, I'm in a similar situation and they have sent me an email about it.

So, you are saying that my friend will be limited for asking for 50 refunds?

He won't be doing cc chargebacks through his bank, but directly through paypal.

What was the email about? What did they say?

What im saying is: my friend made 50 payments and he will be asking for 50 refunds. Is that too much?!?!

What will happen to my friends account?

They said that if I continue asking for chargebacks, they can limit my account. They usually send that message before banning the acc.

I know about that. I've been with many processors before. I'm usually on the side of giving refunds but never about asking for lots of refunds. That's why I'm asking :)

Ill post here if my friend's account gets banned or something :D

No, individual charges would be disputed individually.

So, customers have a lot more leeway than a merchant. Asking for 50 refunds might be a bit excessive, because at that point logic kind of kicks in: why purchase 50 times if the product sucked? You know what I mean? From a merchant perspective, I can absolutely give you an answer, from the customer perspective, it's a lot more grey. I think it will come down to your buddy's reason for buying 50 times, then asking for refunds.

Ask customer support directly for the disputes.

That was my thought process as well, and it also helps to sound like a young adult on the phone and preferable white middle class raised.

I've talked myself out of a lot of near-bans on my paypal account. Due to my being underage a few years ago.
